When you look around the SEC. At what point has the standards at Tennessee dropped below that of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Arkansas and the new kid Texas A&M? And by standard. Any of those schools struggle and they do what is needed to correct it. Example Les Miles out mid season. But so many on this board except mediocrity. Jones will never win a title at Tennessee if he can't win the East when it's down this bad and we have this much talent. And yes I know. Injuries Injuries Injuries. But look at our offense. It doesn't scare anyone. Mainly because we haven't had an offensive line in years. Is that on coaching? Of course. Jones has to make changes or he only gets one more year. Recruiting has to pick up. 3 stars will not win in the SEC if you can't coach them up. I personally wished we had not hired Jones. But at this point I'm not sold he can get us over the top. But he has stabilized the team.

Firing him this year is dumb, but if he doesnt win the conference next season or at least destroy a terrible division, he needs to go.

I agree firing him this season would be a mistake. Need to see what coaching changes he is willing to make.

Take away just half of the injuries and I believe we're 11-1. Easily. Just bad luck. Yes coaching has sucked as well though. So it's a weird spot we're in.

Saw a post earlier celebrating the fact that we're bowl eligible.

We're turning into South Carolina right before my eyes.

He has had 2 different OCs and 2 at DC

When will you guys realize that Butch is the problem

Of course he's the problem. And as far as injuries- it's one of two things. A) his strength and conditioning program is bad or B) he's unlucky. Both of them are unexceptable

Goes both ways, right.

Without our "cancer" falling on the ball against appy st. . . .
Without the hail Mary . . .
Without . . . .?

I love this thread, and everyone in it. You're all reading my mind.

It's amazing how beaten down this fan base is, or maybe how short their memories are. I continue to be astounded at what many will gleefully accept and even defend.

Well we beat Florida and Georgia this season. Hard to say our standard has dropped below them.

Sumlin is 44-19 at A&M and he's paid $5 mill.

I remember years with 3 and 4 loss seasons (or worse) under Majors and Fulmer and Battle. Maybe the whiners have short memories.

Coaches are paid to adjust. Anybody can win with talent

If we had only fired Fulmer after losing to Memphis in 96, we would have won at least a dozen national championships since then....because that's what happens when you change out via he's frequently.

Fulmer averaged 9-4 seasons...he won two SEC Championships in 16 years....Majors was more like 7-4....
