Question to the fan base

Injuries are no excuse especially when Florida was destroyed by injuries today but still went into LSU and got a W

Serious question......not some asshat troll job. With LSU, (Oregon and Texas likely) other deep pockets out there already hunting a new coach.....is it really a good time to fire BJ? Seems like a possibility to pay a lot of money to a 5th or 6th choice.

I love this thread, and everyone in it. You're all reading my mind.

It's amazing how beaten down this fan base is, or maybe how short their memories are. I continue to be astounded at what many will gleefully accept and even defend.

Boro if Butch loses to Missouri is it time to start the thread? You know which one!!

If we had only fired Fulmer after losing to Memphis in 96, we would have won at least a dozen national championships since then....because that's what happens when you change out via he's frequently.

Dont dare compare Butch to Fulmer

Butch wouldnt even be on Fulmers staff

When we get to the point where we know Butch isn't the answer, it's irresponsible to keep him around any longer, regardless of external circumstances. IMO

Take away just half of the injuries and I believe we're 11-1. Easily. Just bad luck. Yes coaching has sucked as well though. So it's a weird spot we're in.

Keep injuries and get new coaching and we are 11-1.

They will wait until recruiting drops off so bad we couldnt beat Miss. State.

I kind of agree. Fans want so badly to believe we have a good coach that it'll have to be ridiculously, painfully obvious before they turn on him. Think about how bad we had to be to fire Fulmer and Dooley.

We should have hired Trump for AD before he got a better gig.

No, not without some information showing that it's actually a possibility...like last time. There is nothing to lead us to believe anything will be done before this dumpster fire actually burns down completely to ashes. Once we get there we can start another rebuild from the ground up.

I'm guessing two years before enough of the perpetually satisfied begin stop buying tickets in enough numbers to make a change.

If Butch stays then there is no hope for next season

I had heard there was a chance he'd be here shortly after the season....but I don't think that is going to happen. Your going to miss the prime time to hire available coaches this year. And I don't believe anyone here has the stones to let him go before or during the season. Best case is the end of next season...with recruits hearing all year he's on the hot seat. Like I said, all the positives that he has amassed will be squandered by the time we get somebody new to do anything with it. It's what we do.

I agree, was looking more long term. IMO the university has lacked leadership and more importantly vision since the days of Hamilton. Hopefully with a new AD who has proven he is capable actually have a vision, we will see improvement in all our athletic endeavors.

It's still hard to forget Derrick Dooley's team destroyed Butch's Cincy team. TN did have better players but Dooley out coached Jones.

You have Bama clearly better than the rest. Then you have Tennessee, Florida, LSU,Auburn Ole Miss and Georgia in a scrum. Will we go up or down?

I agree firing him this season would be a mistake. Need to see what coaching changes he is willing to make.

This is what was said about Dooley. It got us Sunseri. Butch got us DeBored and another Sunseri. Debord looks successful, but Dobbs and Kamara, Jennings etc are play makers. Our offense is successful on them making plays. Not scheme and play calling. Bama and basically every game this year has proved he can't call a game.

As with Dooley, it'll only get worse. But like it or not, we've got Butch another 2-3 years at least. By then, we'll be right back to where we was 3 years ago. Rebuilding, buying coaches time to get his guys in, needing wins for recruiting to pick up.

Just curious, besides Alabama, which SEC team would you like for TN to be like? We are so bad but who is better?
