Not sure why you are accusing me. I just don't remember it. Why would you be surprised that a guy seeing his first real action would throw into double coverage? JG still does it.Why am I not surprised you don’t recall shrout throwing into double coverage and immediately getting yanked
..now PFF rates him unfavorably because he was abysmal on 3rd down and missed wide open receivers and was awful on 3rd down .

My take was that Shrout was pulled because he was making bad line calls and decisions.
My take was that they planned to put JG in from the start. Do you think that was not the case?JG didn’t throw into coverage at this weekend and that is one reason I am excited about his growth
in shrouta first “start” against usce he had 3 throws before getting pulled even after a FG drive
1) threw into double coverage.
2) nice 3rd down pick up on 3rd and short
3) and slung up a prayer from the pocket under pressure that luckily wasn’t called grounding that would have taken us out of FG range on 3rd down
so yea not good but I agree it’s a very small sample size
He's still late with his decisions and does not anticipate well. However his throw to #5 for a TD was good on both accounts.
The problem is that "improved" still isn't good enough. He has to do it consistently. UT just cannot afford to miss plays like that early throw over Keyton down the sideline. A well thrown ball extends the drive. A ball thrown on target and a half count earlier gives Keyton an opportunity to get by the safety and score.

I think you can link it to specific types of plays and how long he has to "think" about his throw. That's his problem... consistency.
JG has made great plays and he's made terrible plays but it's hard to judge what he will do at one given play. I'm not sure he has the control "switch" that some athletes have.
It's not a given they would be interception machines. With our coaching staff, surely further development has taken place, correct? He's not Peyton or Tee accurate for sure BUT if he continues to protect the football like he did Saturday night and our run game improves I'll be ok with JG at QB. Just let the turnovers roll up if we go with a different QB and people will be screaming for a "offense manager" again. I am confident if we had a better option at QB HE WOULD BE PLAYING. Now i know what Bill Murray's character in Groundhog Day felt like.
Honestly, if a guy is pushing the envelope enough there will be some turnovers. I could live with JG's "stat line" a lot better if he'd thrown 4 TD's and an INT.... than being 0-2 in the RZ and 1-7 on third down. He's not Peyton or Tee accurate for sure BUT if he continues to protect the football like he did Saturday night and our run game improves I'll be ok with JG at QB. I agree with a lot of what you said, but Besides one game against South Carolina, I never have viewed Tee Martin as an accurate quarterback. Actually, his 10-25 yard throws were a lot like JG’s.He's not Peyton or Tee accurate for sure BUT if he continues to protect the football like he did Saturday night and our run game improves I'll be ok with JG at QB. Because he can't "think" according to you.I think you can link it to specific types of plays and how long he has to "think" about his throw.
You are lying again. I have NEVER said anything of the sort. He does not process fast enough. Never has. He still showed signs of it vs USCe.Because he can't "think" according to you.
Some people think faster than others. They process information faster. They have an easier time with things becoming "instinctive". Some people are more abstract thinkers. Some are more concrete. "Good" QB's not only make good decisions... they make them quick. Why can't he "think" is it his brain? How is it that QBs who make bad decisions aren't considered by you to not be able to "think" but QBs that make good decisions and protect the football can't "think"? I would have thought it would be the exact opposite.
The TD to Palmer was his best throw as a Vol IMO. I think Littlevol has a point when he says that he seemed to go through progressions and throw to the right guy. He's still just too slow pulling the trigger and doesn't anticipate throws well consistently. The TD was an example where all of it worked. Please show me where he has improved
