Lord, it seemed like Nico had 5+ balls batted a game and he was 6’6”. 5’10” gonna seem like we have Kevin Hart as a QB.

It’s not completely analogous because there are no completely analogous situations. My point is that a player doesn’t have to have 18 months in the system to be successful. Obviously you would have wanted the full spring and it won’t be perfect, but I didn’t see anything yesterday that changed my mind that someone with starter-ready ability would put us in a better position this year than someone with a better understanding of the playbook.

That part of the analogy is crucial. An incoming transfer will not have spring practice to learn…fall practice just isn’t much time at all.

Avery Johnson would be an insane pickup. Very athletic and talented runner who just needs to sharpen up some passes. Not like he’s a scrub throwing either, but I think CJH could do wonders with him.

With that said, it’s a pipe dream imo

Avery Johnson or Josh Hoover would be a great get.

As someone who follows KState fairly closely (wife’s Alma), I’d rather have Merk than Avery Johnson.

Be good to really give the Merk an opportunity, should be good at making decisions. Highly ranked until he wouldn’t attend all the competitions/ events leading up to his senior season. Didn’t play the game.

Interesting! I like watching him play from the little I’ve watched.

Threw for 25 TDs, ran 600 yards and 5.4 ypc. Why would you rather go Merk?

Also I don’t think Johnson is an option and also also I saw very little of him last year so while I liked what I saw I’m basically flying blind.

People watched him play one time last year (UGA game) and think he’s an all American now. He is a significantly worse passer than Nico.

Who cares? That would be worth the trade even if it did make him leave at some point. We’re talking about a proven young player who looked great in a playoff game vs. a redshirt freshman who has done nothing at all.

IMO we should be looking for an upperclassman with a proven track record just to give us some time to develop what we have on campus. John Mateer, Washington st, and Fernando Mendoza, Cal, would be my first two calls.
