'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

Wrong. We don't need to bring in a veteran QB to be our starter that has zero knowledge of our offense or experience running an offense at our pace of play. Merklinger will start. He knows the offense. We need an experienced backup.
Sorry but I dont think we need to just hand the keys to a rs freshman who has 10 passing attempts in his career and expect a vet to just sit the bench. Realistically what needs to happen is we bring in a good upperclassman, and let the transfer, merk and gmac have a legitimate qb battle to determine who starts

Yeah but they're referencing guys that are starters somewhere else.

Who after they lose to Merklinger in a QB battle will be back in the portal again.

So the 3rd QB needs to be like the guy that followed Heupel here who entered the portal in December

There’s no fall camp window

Would Tennessee really tamper with other team's QBs after the Nico debacle? They would lose a lot of goodwill by going out and poaching some other team's QB and paying them more. Is that the message to send to the team?

I think we have to let Merklinger and Macintyre battle it out. Fans have already lowered expectations. Might as well see what we have in these young guys. I think we should be looking to add an experienced QB from a lower level.

Every team is “tampering”. It is expected and the norm.

You have to realize that most of these reps for players are also reaching out to UT unsolicited to gauge interest. That’s how it works nowadays.

He's a damn beast and the toughest SOB I've seen. Plus, an extremely high character QB. Much different than that $hitshow that just hung his brother's out to dry. We heavily recruited him out of HS
Yall are saying this because of one game. If you watched him all year you would know he was worse than Nico as a 4th year player. They literally put in a true freshman on passing downs because he can’t throw.

Must be a Tech fan. Tell you QB to give us a call

Also, Merk and Gmac being young means that even if they lose this battle, they still have all the opportunity in the world here. Neither probably anticipated starting in 2025.

Yes, but Merk or the transfers they are referencing will end up leaving after 2025 regardless of who wins in that scenario.

They need to elevate one of the walk-ons at QB or get a grad transfer like Gaston if not Gaston himself

Not necessarily. Especially if the guy you bring in only has one year

What if we threw a bag at Pavia? Lol
Pavia only works in that Vandy system of drain the clock, get 3-4 yards, use every down, go as slow as possible type offense. He helped make it the best version of that by being a good scrambler and scramble drill thrower, but that style of offense has a ceiling that is hard to break through, especially against good defenses that are fast, disciplined, and maintain assignment integrity.

Pavia feasted on undisciplined defenses, but folded when the scramble drills were shut down. Also that style of offense makes it hard to come back from being behind.

He would not work in any other system. He is also an injury liability because his coach let him do whatever. You could tell he lost the jump in his step by the time he faced us.

Pavia can't transfer here anyway...not excited about the 2 names (Luke and kid from Arizona) being tossed around.

Let's see what other names are possibilities in the coming days.

We have to add another QB.

insiders said we have it narrowed down.
