'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

I understand the situation here but im speaking overall

This staff has to get better with the portal overall. They could get much better if they were more aggressive.

Of course it was about money. I’m not saying that they made the wrong decision by not paying the kid 4 million but if you are going to go to the mat on the national media stage, and then take the kid that got kicked out for him on his next team, it’s a bad look.
The issue wasn't money, it was about the willingness to hurt the team as a negotiation tactic. The money would have been ironed out and Nico would have received a nice bump in pay. We were always going to pay him.

It was a very bad look for Nico and his team, evidenced by his lack of interest from the market.

It was unfortunate for us, not a bad look, but not a great outcome. This late in the game it was always going to be a challenge to find what we were specifically looking for. An option opened up, far from ideal but the situation dictated possible outcomes.

Staff has already reached out to him and are doing their due diligence. He’s still a bit raw but has upside and is tough. Think he could be a plan b or potential bridge to ease the younger guys into the fray.
👆🏻Told yall last week our coaches were already speaking with him. Sounds like some on ucla staff weren’t as thrilled about Nico coming in but it’s a money game with optics.

Don’t see why people are so worked up over this. Aguilar is fine as a third QB, and Heupel is a known QB developer-have you all already forgotten what he turned Hooker, who was decidedly average at VT, into?

Not gonna pretend this is some amazing move. Because it’s not, and I do think this confirms we’re probably going 8-4. But when your QB bails on you out of nowhere like this, you are a beggar. That’s just how it is. I’m not going to be some sunshine pumper who says that Aguilar will be Hooker 2.0, but I’m also going to try to be realistic on the matter.

We were never getting Becht, Altmyer, or any of those guys. Accept it.

Illinois certainly doesn't have a better WR room than Tennessee. Brazzell, Matthews, Boo, Amari, Travis Smith, and Jackson blows anything Illinois has out of the water.
Guess how many combined receptions the group you just listed has... 36 receptions. Brazzell had 29 and MM had 7. The last four names you mentioned have zero receptions. It could be a great group, but it is completely unknown at this point.

There was always a 0% chance that an established starter from a major program was going to up and drop classes (foregoing all coursework), say goodbye to his girlfriend, friends, and teammates and move to Knoxville to enroll in new classes, learn a new offense, along with the names of 120 new teammates and coaches, no matter how much money we offered.

Some of you act like CJH could send a band of goons to kidnap a guy to play QB here. It seems clear that the staff tested the waters on some guys, but you can't force somebody.

If anything, it should make everybody feel a little better that not every player is like Nico, and willing to abandon their team.

Earlier today Basilio said Altmeyer told us no over the weekend. Something something WRs
how the hell does anyone know what we have at wr? Our qb last year lost 8 to 12 td passes of distance because he sucked on long balls with these no wr being wide open. Its just like this Qb being meh because not a name brand non heisman talk about etc. Just because we as fans have no clue does not mean coaches etc do not. That is why we sit and bitch about everything we do not know about.
