My gut is PSN is going to cave in and go with a revamped system paid for with a pay to play membership. Not saying this time but it's going to happen sooner than later.

they have already have an optional pay service. its called playstation plus. they would have to totally scrap that aspect. not sure how all that would play out. not saying it couldn't happen. maybe they grandfather those people in or something...
Honestly was their biggest mistake, marginal benefits for pay isnt much of a incentive .They just need to cut their losses with this approach, get on par with online technology before it's too late. I'm not a fanboy by any means but it wasn't for the horrible RROD fiasco, Playstation would be going the way of the Dreamcast by now. Online play is the main concern for most gamers these days and Microsoft saw that from the beginning and built the superior platform. If Sony didn't listen to the whiners that didn't want to pay 60 bucks a year for a legit online community then they probably wouldnt be in this embarrassing mess right now.

It's nice....I personally don't care either way about the ps3 vs xbox debate. I have a ps3 now, used to have an xbox and I enjoy playing on both of them. Probably would have both if I had the money (which I do, but I have more important purchases to make). So yada yada yada....who really gives a grit!don't mind me. just stating the truth.
I wasn't a fan of xbox from the start because of the controller. Then because of pay to play online. I always liked the PS controller & the games they offered. As far as connectivy issues go I'm sure they have them on xbox just like on ps3. Believe it or not your connection through your ISP plays a big part of how good your connection is online. Let's not forget PSN is down becsuse of hackers & it's not totally impossible that it couldn't happen to the xbox.

It wouldn't take long for microsoft to fix it. That's the difference. No one knows for sure it was hackers or not except sony either. sony could have just crashed for all we know.
