PSA: Please do not boo if in attendance Saturday.

I can't even imagine wanting to boo a college student just for not being as good at a game as I want him to be. He no doubt wants to be that good, too, and he's tried hard and taken a beating in the process. If he plays Saturday, which seems likely, I hope he has the game of a lifetime and contributes to a Volunteer victory. Go Vols!

I figured this could use a thread rather than getting lost in the shuffle of so many different conversations. I know many of you all are disappointed in the performance of Jarret Guarantano this season, myself included, but there are rumblings of fans boo'ing JG should he step on the field as our QB this weekend. I implore those in attendance to not do so no matter how angry at the decision. At the end of the day, Pruitt is stuck between a rock and a hard place. If Maurer is concussed and cannot play, Pruitt has two choices. He can either start Shrout or JG. That's it. There is no better option. And if Pruitt thinks JG is the better choice to give us a fighting chance, so be it. Boo'ing has never, and will never, accomplish anything. It doesn't make the team play better and it doesn't change the decision the coaching staff made. It just sends the complete wrong message to recruits in attendance. Don't be part of the problem. Don't be trashy. That's the nicest way I can put it. Support the team, or don't go. Go Vols.
So tired of fruit cakes getting on here and telling us what we should do or should not do and how to behave. Probably some 18-19 snotty nose frat boy telling men and women old enough to be his parents how we should behave.

I though booing him was beyond ridiculous lately but after what he chose to do in the Bama game, I honestly get it. He deserves some boos....BUT I agree no one still should. Think about the bigger picture. It's not a good look at all.

Everyone seems worried that people are booing JG. Have you considered that they are booing Pruitt for playing JG and not JG himself?

Can we boo the refs?
Too many Snowflakes these days. Can I boo the Snowflakes for being such wimps.
JG has been beaten up by defenses game after game... he's a tough young man he can take it.
If not then he as no business on a college field.

But again I think people are booing the coach for his decision to not fix the problem that he himself has said likely cost us 2 games this year.

There is no such thing as a nuanced boo, but you can keep telling yourself that. I'm also not entirely sure what the difference is between boo'ing the coaches for playing JG and boo'ing JG. They both mean the same exact thing, one just makes you feel better about yourself.

I'm not a Guarantano fanboy by any means, but doing the whole boo-ing thing is kinda tacky. That individual is subpar at the mental component of his position and it's more likely than not that he is well aware of it at this point. If folks get the urge to boo one of our players (like Guarantano), do what I do...look on the bright side and take it as an opportunity to stretch your legs with a walk in the concourses, go grab another soda, or perhaps a bowl of Petro's finest while Guarantano is having yet another 3-down panic attack.

I agree that booing would be detrimental to a team that already doesn't rally around JG. On the other hand, our fans...

I'm still curious if Shrout starts. I don't think it's out of the question.

Bad look for recruits - lol!!! Bama boos at every little stinking thing that goes wrong. They’re still raking em in.
Yeah, but when you have a record like they do, you can get away with more. Just like Pruitt grabbing the face mask, we've all saw Saban do worse. It's a double standard depending upon how well the team plays. Not saying it's right or wrong..it is what it is.

Funny how we preach to fans who spent their hard earned dollars to watch a bad football team how to be better fans. It's called passion.

I don't boo our players and never will. I have heard MANY times booing including going in to half time against UF n 2016. I have booed coaches in full disclosure. UGA has been booed in multiple games this year at home. Their recruiting sure is suffering lol.
Look, imo if you bought a ticket, you paid for the right to voice your opinion. Everyone doesn't have to agree and don't have to like it. But don't preach to me or any other fan who actually attends games what to do when we get there.

Go Vols, beat those gamecocks!

If anything boo the refs the entire game. Like they do in basketball, every time the ref says something boo them or boo the gamecocks. Trust me if JG plays there will be enough booing from my couch. I got chu guys! Lol

I assure you Neyland will not have trouble filling up the stadium one week after this team fought tooth and nail in Tuscaloosa against the #1 team in the nation and made us proud. If the boo birds are staying home, I say we're better off for it. Someone else will replace their boo's with cheers which is preferred--and much more useful.

it’s seldom that people look at the fair weather fan as an improvement over a die hard fan. I would prefer fans that stick it out through the good and the bad. Cheer when they want, and boo when they feel the need. Fans that only go during the good times, and stay home during the bad times (or just sit on their butts) are nothing that I would aspire to be.

It's sad that this needs to be said. I cannot imagine ever booing the Vols.

If you are still supporting this team after a decade of mediocrity and inept football, then you are a "die hard" fan. There are no more fair weather fans. We're 2-5. There is nothing to be "fair weather" about with a record like that. If you're showing up to the games this season, you love the Vols. It doesn't make you a "true fan" if you get angry and boo the team when they struggle.
