PS4 VS Xbox720

"Exclusive" was a poor choice of words...........none of the EA Sports titles will be exclusive to XBOX.........they will get some DLC first. It's like when you see the exclusive tag with COD, really just means XBOX users got the maps and DLC at least a week earlier than PS3 users.

woot, first to buy alternate madden jerseys that should already be in the game?

The last time I checked this is the GAMING forum, not the Xbox forum. If I want to criticize MS and directions they take with their console while praising Sony for their strategies, I have that right. This forum has been an overwhelmng Xbox love fest for a LONG time. I thought it was about time someone came in with a different perspective. Sorry if that aggrivates you but if you don't like it, ignore my posts.

Clearly you have that right. But much like you, I'm just calling a spade a spade, and reminding folks that you have endlessly bashed MS. That's fine if that's how you feel, and if you choose to go with a PS4 for the myriad of reasons you've detailed, I understand. I just don't think thus stuff is that big of a deal or that MS is half as bad as you make them out to be.

As to you comment regarding Sony having a "laser focus" on gaming, why the hell are they going foward into ANOTHER generation of consoles with essentially the same controller they released 15 year ago for PS1? I think if you polled people who had used both setups, the Xbox controller would win in a landslide, yet Sony insists in continuing to plug away with the same cheap, tiny controller they've been using for a decade and a half.

100% agree and this is the forum and thread for it IMO.

Don't you think it's a bit premature to be criticizing the PS4 controller since you've never held one in your hands? If you look at the pictures that do a size comparison, you'll find that the PS4 actually IS bigger. It's wider than the other PS controllers and the grips are longer. Also they have changed the L2 and R2 buttons to concave triggers and they have tightened up the analogue sticks to have a lot less "dead zone." Add to that the "Share" button and the touch pad and you have a pretty fair amount of change/improvement. Plus Sony has stated that the controller was co-developed WITH game developers so their input is in the controller as well.

Having said that, I've never had a single problem with the PS dual shock controller design in the first place. Been using it since PS One with no problems and really, all the *****ing about it didn't start until AFTER the Xbox 360 controller came out, then suddenly 360 users started bashing the PS controller design, despite the fact that it had been used for over 10 years with no complaints by most gamers.

If Microsoft wasn't so hell bent on becoming the Galactic Empire, I would be in the Xbox camp; this new unit is ugly - but it has some fascinating features.

At the end of the day, there are two main things to consider (for me, anyway) -

1 - which route offers the most fun with the least amount of BS
2- what route are the majority of my buddies taking

Nether item will become clear until 2014.

Yes but that's ONLY if you use the same profile on those consoles. The way I understand it is if you attempt to install a game on a separate console using a separate profile, you have to play full MSRP for each install. My friend has an Xbox, he has 2 kids each with their own Xbox's and their own profiles. In that scenereo he would have to pay that MSRP price 3 times to get that one game installed on his and his kid's systems.

I'm not a MS fan, but in my opinion any interpretation of that scenario as problematic is laughable. Why should the cost of a game be one-third the cost of the normal cost per system just because somebody purchased three consoles?

Is it really that hard to understand the problem? They're essentially trying to go the PC gaming route without the higher end graphics, cheaper prices(for the game and to play all of it), mods, and apparently an Offline Mode considering Xbox One's planned once per 24 authentication setup(even for single player games). Not every PC game even has DRM. It's like purchasing a DVD that comes with a one time use code linking that DVD to the DVD player in your living room, if you wanted to watch it on any other DVD player you'd have to pay a fee that just happens to be the price of purchasing the DVD.

But yeah, Microsoft is trying to force this DRM when they're still using physical media for distribution. It just doesn't make any sense. The game on the disc should function when I put it in to a console, plain and simple. Nobody is saying they'd like to have one game where 3 consoles can all play it at the same time.

I expect launch to be a disaster unless they backpedal. Xbox Live is going to have to be faultless for this to work with the online authentication, the one time use game codes better be executed alot better than they've done with DLC codes/content being nothing but placeholders on Live at launch of a game, etc.

I don't understand how people could support/defend such anti-consumerism when it does absolutely nothing for them.

DC Universe Online is coming to the PlayStation 4 -- and so is Planetside 2, the first-person shooter MMO currently available for PC.

Seeing as how we don't know when the PS4 will be released, SOE kept the release dates for DCUO and Planetside 2 loose and simply said the PS4 versions will be available as free-to-play digital downloads this year.

That was my only gripe about the ps3 controller. Everything else was fine. I actually like it a tad bit smaller. But I like that the 360 analogue sticks have a little more resistance and seem to be a little more precise.
