PS4 VS Xbox720

What if you have multiple Xbox's in one household with multiple profiles (I have a friend who has three 360's). Doesn't this mean you would have to purchase the game each time you set it up on a new profile?

Also, unless MS is planning on distributing special "rental copy" versions of their games to places like Red Box, this pretty much destroys the gaming rental business in one fell swoop!

I don't think so. The way DLC works now on 360 is that it is licensed to the serial number of the console on which it is downloaded, but the licenses can be transferred between consoles, IIRC. I can't remember the whole process, I just remember I had to do it once to get all my DLC back when MS sent me a new Xbox after my old on red ringed.

As for rental copies, why is it MS's responsibility to look out for the rental industry? If they can find a way to keep that money for themselves, why would they not choose to do it?

I'm with you. It's nice to see that MS essentially fitted the Xbox with The Clapper. However their complete lack of focus on gaming disappointed me. I literally felt like I was watching a cable service infomercial.

Also, what is MS fascination with voice command? Maybe it's just me but I would feel like a complete idiot sitting there in my living room yelling out "Xbox TV." "Xbox on." "Xbox make me a cheese sandwich." Voice command capability SOUNDS cool and all but in real world implementation it is the most overrated feature ever devised! It is no more convenient than pushing a button.

You don't have to use the voice command. It could be convenient for some people. What if a person is confined to a chair or something, they could turn it on from where they sit. Or the button on the controller is broke. Never know the issue. It's a convenience someone may use, why not include it if you have the capability?

i thought it was terribly impressive with all that it could do. the problem is, i would not use half of that mess that they showed. i'm in for a gaming console, not a console that will make me coffee and tell me good morning.

I kind of felt the same way. I bought one of those Harmony remotes a couple years ago, so I can pretty much change between activities with the push of a single button anyway. I doubt I'll ever use the Xbox One for watching TV or any of that other stuff they showed. But, I'll still be buying this instead of the PS3, in large part because both systems are using a slightly updated and modified version of their current controllers. The thing is, one of those controllers is the best one on the market, with a rugged design that feels like it was built with adults in mind, and the other one feels like a cheap, tiny toy designed with a 8 year old in mind.

Yes but that's ONLY if you use the same profile on those consoles. The way I understand it is if you attempt to install a game on a separate console using a separate profile, you have to play full MSRP for each install. My friend has an Xbox, he has 2 kids each with their own Xbox's and their own profiles. In that scenereo he would have to pay that MSRP price 3 times to get that one game installed on his and his kid's systems.

Then wouldn't it just be a matter of recovering your gamertag onto the second console and then transferring the licenses? I know I've moved my XBL profile onto friends consoles in order to play in the past. Obviously that's a little bit of work, but it would still be possible if you really needed to make it happen.

What kind of games are you talking about? If they're all wanting to play a game like COD together, then obviously they should have to have 3 copies of it to play on 3 consoles. If not, then they just need to play split screen.

What about Skyrim? Or Assassins Creed? Or Tomb Raider? Or any other single player focused game for that matter. True you'd need multiple copies for Call of Duty but not everyone plays COD.

What would make more sense to me is if MS decided to link it to your internet profile. That way, if you have several systems under one roof and they were all running off that one internet profile, they could all use that same game at no extra charge.

Why the hell do you all of a sudden expect MS to start giving stuff away for free? At no point EVER, EVER, EVER have to been able to buy one copy of a game and have multiple people play it simultaneously on multiple consoles. Going back 25 years, if three people wanted to play Super Mario at the same time, you would need 3 copies of the game. That hasn't changed and isn't going to change.

Does anyone know if it's true that EA sports titles will be exclusive to the Xbox??

I took what they were talking about to mean that some bonus features and/or DLC were going to be Xbox exclusive, but not the games themselves. I could have misunderstood though.

Who said anything about giving stuff away for free?!? If I buy a game for MY household, I should be able to use it on all of my systems that I have IN my household!! I'm not talking about pirating a game then giving it a buddy and have him pirate it and the he give it another buddy and him pirate it. I'm talking about one game-one household here. That's why I said it would be better if this whole DRM thing were linked to an individual's internet profile rather than their Live account.

That's how I wanted to understand it as well - surely EA wouldn't cut out half their market base!

You will be able to do just that, but you'll have to transfer the licenses to move it from console to console. It won't be as simple as it may have been in the past where you simply eject it from one console and pop it in another one, but it will still be possible.

I actually understood it in the way that you asked, but after considering it for two seconds, I thought that surely MS hasn't shelled out enough for an exclusivity agreement that it would be beneficial for EA to abandon PS altogether. That's why I've settled on thinking that surely they just meant some bonus content.

ONLY if you use the same Live account.

Lets say you and your wife have 2 Xbox's with your own Live accounts set up. Then you buy a game and install it on your Xbox under your Live account. Well if your wife wants to play that same game on HER Xbox under HER Live account, you are going to have to pay that full MSRP price AGAIN just so it will run on her system. Under one household that should NOT be the case. Like I said, if MS designed it to link with your internet profile instead of your Live account that wouldn't be a problem.

The process of moving a Live account from one console to another takes less than a minute. If you can't handle that, then just buy multiple copies of the game or just buy a PS4. We all know you have a pretty strong anti-MS agenda here. You've trashed XBL endlessly and this just feels like another situation where you're looking for something to complain about. To each their own. If you're needing to move multiple games around multiple consoles and profiles, then clearly Xbox One may not be for you, and that's perfectly fine. Personally, I'm looking forward to owning one.

"Exclusive" was a poor choice of words...........none of the EA Sports titles will be exclusive to XBOX.........they will get some DLC first. It's like when you see the exclusive tag with COD, really just means XBOX users got the maps and DLC at least a week earlier than PS3 users.

It's not going to work like that. The game is linked to the gamertag via a one time use code, transferring licenses is irrelevant.

Thank you!!

I find it hilarious that some on here think I have an "agenda." I have said countless times that if MS impresses me then I will get the next Xbox. However I'm not afraid to call a spade a spade and this crap that MS is trying to pull is a bunch of draconian BS! If Sony tries to pull this crap then I will be equally as critical. However RIGHT NOW (key word), it seems as if Sony has the core gamer more as a priority than MS does.

MS' presentation felt more like a cable service provider informercial, where as Sony's laser focused on games and developers. That's the demographic that I fall under. All the interconnectivity and apps are great and all but I want to support companies who have gamers and gaming as priority 1. MS is clearly not this company right now and having deep enough pockets to buy exclusive DLC from EA and Activision doesn't change that. I'll give them E3, but they'd better pull their heads out of their collective asses and start bringing it in terms of games!

:eek:lol:

The last time I checked this is the GAMING forum, not the Xbox forum. If I want to criticize MS and directions they take with their console while praising Sony for their strategies, I have that right. This forum has been an overwhelmng Xbox love fest for a LONG time. I thought it was about time someone came in with a different perspective. Sorry if that aggrivates you but if you don't like it, ignore my posts.
