To be honest, even more so than XBL, the reason I prefer Xbox is the controller. It's kind of funny to me that that's the reason I've ended up siding with 360, because when the original Xbox came out, the controller was actually the reason I stuck with PS2. The first Xbox controllers felt like they were about the size of an iPad and were simply too big. However, MS found some middle ground and now currently has a controller that is just right IMO. In fact after having used it, the PS3 controller, which other than going wireless for this gen hasn't changed in 15 years, just feels cheap by comparison.
I've always kind of wanted a PS3 just so I can play The Show, but could never justify dropping several hundred dollars for a system that I would literally play one single game on.
I absolutely hate the 360 controllers - and I love that Sony hasn't changed the Playstation controller (wireless aside) since the PS1. I guess different strokes for different folks.
As far as getting a PS3 for The Show - as long as you aren't thinking about getting a PS4 in the next 18 months, do it. There are a few other PSN exclusives that are pretty good and some of the games that you currently play on the 360 likely have capable PS3 equivalents.
COD, FIFA and GTA are literally the only video games I play, and my dislike for the PS controller would keep me from ever playing them on that system. As someone who rarely watches movies, the blu-ray player wouldn't offer me anything either. I just can't justify buying a whole system just for The Show, especially with the next generation of consoles so close on the horizon.
the PS3 is more powerful than the 360 but it has never taken advantage of that power advantage, cross platform games don't look or play any better.
That's because the dev kit for the xbox is much simpler, and most multiplatform games are developed for Xbox and then ported to PS3. The few that are done the opposite way are marginally better on the PS3. The real difference is in PS3 exclusives over Xbox exclusives, but it's hard to compare two completely different games. Fanboys on both sides would never admit to the other having superior graphics.
I've had both and don't have a favorite either way. I've played many more games on the ps3, but play xbox for the most part now just because that's what my friends have and we play online.
I like the ps3 controller better, but I like that the thumbsticks on the xbox controller have a little resistance.
I have no idea what I'll buy. It'll probably be at least a year after release before I got one. That's about how long it was for the ps2 when it came out and ps3.
I have both and will get both eventually. Both have games I like that you can't get for the other. I was a huge PS fanboy for years but my girl bought me a 360 two yrs ago and I've spent much more time playing it since. I prefer the XBox controllers over Sony's other than the stupid need for endless AA batteries. The PS remote just feels more fragile. I also hate having to pay for the XB live gold membership monthly just to use Netflix.
Also, eBay is so 2005. No need to pay those seller fees and wait for auctions to end when you can just throw them up on Craigslist and have them sold in a couple hours with no fees whatsoever.
Also, for those looking to buy early and resell, you should probably expect a lower return with this new generation of consoles.
Reason being is simply that more people are going to try the same thing after seeing people score big with the PS3's when they came out.
