Pruitt not happy with Spring Game attendance

I have to admit to being confused.

When CJP is challenging our players to be part of a team effort, is there anyone on VN that has an objection to that?

When CJP is challenging VN supporters to be part of a team effort, is there anyone on VN that has an objection to that?

Apparently so.

We're not on scholarship here. We dont play for CJP. He needs to focus on what he can control, which is the product ON the field. The product in the stands will take care of itself once the product on the field is fixed.

I still don't get it. Players quit on Fulmer = Fulmer is the problem. Players quit on Dooley = Dooley is the problem. Players quit on Jones = Jones is the problem.

Players quit on Pruitt = the players and apparently the fans are the problem. And some of you seem just fine with that. I'm not. This coaching staff needs to focus on getting those players inspired to play football at Tennessee.

We obviously have a HC who is going to throw everyone and anyone under the bus. Fulmer has his hands full.

Those other examples had multiple ACTUAL SEASONS to base that assessment off of. You can’t even float this guy until FALL CAMP.

Actually the quitting "on the field" occurred in the last season for those coaches, not in the first spring game. This tells me that the coaching staff has not been able to inspire some of these young men.

I can see a pattern emerging and I don't like it. This is not Alabama where players will take whatever and stay for the NC ring.

Positive energy is needed right not - not negative energy.

Positive energy comes when you do your job and what you’ve been taught the right way , negative energy comes from when you don’t and are not giving your all . See how that works ? From pop warner to pro this is how it works . I’ve also never been involved with , seen or heard a successful coach that’s happy with the production he always wants more and better .

Plenty of positive energy BEFORE the reality? I’ll pass. This is an ugly job right now. He ain’t singing kumbaya for what’s ahead. And you already have a built in narrative for this hire. You’ll always make this sound like that and that sound like this. I’m not guaranteeing success. Just open minded at the possibility.

Neither does what CJP said yesterday unless you are overly sensitive and I believe that’s pretty much what the whole thread is about .

Agreed. Imho, ANYBODY who’s “upset” with Pruitt’s comments yesterday is just searching for reasons to b**ch and gripe, whether it’s because “Phil stabbed poor Johnny in the back” a quarter century ago or because “Pruitt is freakin’ Bammer” and they’re just not gonna accept him no matter what he does.

No one is upset and no one's feelings are hurt. Those claims are just childish attempts at deflection. What people are saying is he should do his job and not say things that can be construed as pitting himself (or "hisself", if you prefer) against the fans. It's dangerous ground and there's absolutely no reason for him to go there.

People who keep saying he should have expectations of the fans are missing the point by a mile. And I suspect, on purpose.

Y’all still talking about this?

Could he have said it better? Sure

But what does he know? He knows the spring game is an opportunity, an opportunity to separate yourself from other teams and be a springboard for recruiting. It can (and has) made differences at Bama and Ga. the recruits feed off the energy and it got them excited. Excited in spring and they are thinking about your program all summer.

Opportunity lost and Pruitt knows it. He should have campaigned to fill it tho imo. Go to halftime at basketball games and beg fans to come. Put up billboards, bring in an entertainer, whatever you must do to fill it and create excitement, that part he could have invested more effort imo.

So, expressing your disagreement, or pointing out error, is having your feelings hurt?

I guess all those Haitians were just getting their feelings hurt when Trump called their country a **** hole.

Or, it matters what leaders say.

I’ll ask you the same thing .. have you read all the posts in this thread ? There’s way more than “ expressing disagreement “ and I’m not touching the political statement 😉

They were both right.

And those are mainly replies to folks like you that want to rant and rave because someone has a different opinion than yourself.

This is what makes a an open fourm great , we can all express different points of views . In the end it’s all a matter of perspective . I believe it was said best in an earlier post .... if you are easily offended then what he said offended you , if you are not then it didn’t .

What a bunch of wimps that expect their status as a fan to provide them protection from criticism from a coach for not showing up and giving their all at the game......

He rewarded those that showed up for the Vol Walk and the game and questioned those that did not just like he did those players that did not give their all on the field...

"not my job" logic is pretty dang weak....

Full disclosure, I did not go... should have, could have and did not.... but will take my medicine and move on.... not going to make excuses or find a reason to make the criticism not a relevant position... the classic chicken and egg deal.... Win and I will show up arguments are the ultimate weak sister positions for FANS.....

Again, NOBODY was offended. And yes, I have read every post on this thread. I like to read and I highly recommend that you try it yourself.
