Pruitt just said offensive coordinators are overrated

You people act as though you know the inner workings of what's going on within the football program. I can assure you, while you think you're all knowing, the coach has more insight than any of use do. That probably makes him a better authority in making decisions. Go ahead, get pissed, you are the same people bitching about "how bad" our recruiting class is/was, many of you promote no longer going to home games to show the administration we mean business and expect better. By all means, empty the stadium, cancel season tickets, and let's see how good we recruit...how good our next OC is. Good Lord!

i think that's obvious for most folks freaking out over this. lol. at least you're honest about it.

ignoring the point, usually allows you to form your own narrative, and have hte ability to stick to it. it's a tactic that's used a lot around here.
Yes, and Butch Jones was trying to say that the seniors on his team had a great accomplishment off of the field and grew as men while at Tennessee when he called them life champions.

If we could just ignore what you say, and the implications of what you say, and instead look at what you meant, the world would be a much different place.

But alas, words actually matter. I hope that doesn't shock you too much.

It's not a narrative. Pruitt said the OC is "sometimes over rated". You can interpret that many ways, and that's why words matter.

the only reason the words matter to the level you allow them to is because Butch Jones was a bad football coach. he could have called anyone he wanted life champions had he won the East in 15 and 16 and no one would care.

that he didn't, and continued to get worse at what he did, magnified anything/everything else he said as more evidence of "suck".

it's all TBD on pruitt. if we come back in 3 years and we're a bad football team, yeah, lol, we can come back here and say "that OC thing was pretty important".

until then, it's just a comment at a press conference where he wanted the focus to be on the players coming in to the program.

TF? Not even sure if you are on drugs or something. You think cjp can be the hc, dc, and oc?? lol you have really bought in! And if you dont know how having an elite oc may be a competitive advantage, I really cant help you...jesus christ

I didn't say that Jimbob, I said he was good enough to do both, so, as the HC.........he'll pick who he thinks will operate the offense the way he wants it to be managed. If you are going to get fired, listen, because you probably have experienced losing a job.......a lot, be fired for your decisions, not someone else's.

You implied that with better talent this coaching staff could compete with the best teams in the land. My questions implies; with obviously higher rated recruits than Vandy or Missouri we got blown out.

IEven for the slow ones my meaning with that question should have been clear. With that in mind I typed this response out very very slowly with hopes it will help you comprehend it better.

If you're still struggling ask someone at your work place ( one that is well known for passing the 10th grade) to help you cipher out all these hidden meanings.

Take care and I'm happy I could help you.

Everybody's just got to be a smart ***. Well I dunno who in their right mind is still trying to hang their hat on this team's past recruiting rankings and claiming that we have talent. You think we had more talent than Vandy or Mizzou but for several years now they have owned us. How could that possibly be if we have all of this talent? What talent do we have that would start at any of the current top 5 teams?

You can keep the blinders on as long as you like for as long as you feel comfortable. Pruitt's comments do not help us in any logical way. Why make those comments????? What good does it do??? Pruitt keeps on reaffirming my belief that he does not have a clue and is a deer in the headlights. TN will eventually get a great coach that will lead us back to the top. These things run in cycles and it takes a long time to complete the cycle.

What does he say when asked a question on that topic that "helps" us?

And even then, what he said in a PC 3 years prior wont having anything to do with his success or failure here. It didnt with the last guy as you stated.

He got fired because he went 4-8 and recruits figured out he had no product. Not because he said something.

Might be right about hot skinny blondes. Too many are spoiled, self-centered, money wasting things who think the world revolves around them. Give me a good old-fashioned country gal who doesn't spend a fortune on warpaint, shoes designed to be looked at instead of serving a useful function and trinkets. Who can skin game, fish as good as any man, smoke venison, do canning, dare you to meet her in the bedroom for 2-hour romping sessions, and love football, especially Vols football. I take that one over some skinny "I. me, and myself" blonde any day.

When you break down your preferences I think you are from a "older time". Finding this type woman as far back would have been tough. A gal with a few of these ideal traits today would be tough enough, finding one with all, well good luck.

Here you go @GetYouSomeofThat and @volfannbama , this is another you can add to the list of those that want him fired. What's that, 7 or 8?

And Thorp, if you say you don't want him fired after what you just said Lol, good luck explaining it.

If he wanted to keep the questions on recruits he could have just said, "guys, today is about the recruits that want to play football for Tennessee. Let's keep the questions on that subject."

But no, he went and said OC's are sometimes over rated. Probably an insight into Pruitt's "football mind".

He won 2 games against one dimensional teams. Auburn couldn't run it and Kentucky couldn't throw it. Any team that wasn't one dimensional pounded our butt. We had a lot of positive things going after Kentucky, but Pruitt screwed the pooch the last 2 games. You can't tell me it wasn't 100% the players fault we got creamed against Vandy.

Saying a coach that is on the sideline with less than good players on the field who didn't look like they gave a dam-, doesn't say to me that that coach screwed the pooch. You can drive a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. Have heard this all my life, it is a sound statement. It applies here. We just didn't have the horses to drive to the drink!!!!

What about " The OC position is very important to our sucess and I am taking the time necessary to make sure I hire the right coach who makes the best fit"
sounds like something someone would say if they gave a crap what you thought about it.

That sounds good. But other than your sensitivities how does that "help" us?

The last guy hired the best staff in the country.
It helps us by Pruitt not looking so ignorant. Beecher - have a great day and Merry Christmas. I enjoy reading your posts. You add alot to the mix.

At least we narrowed down "us" (as far as helping) to the fans feelings. It doesnt do anything for the hire, or his future success or failure.

Merry Christmas to you as well.
