I"m totally on board with the wisdom of the extension. It's critical that our coaches be able to ensure those high value (4 and 5 star) recruits that there will be continuity in the program. That said...I'm not comfortable with a guaranteed $8,000.00 per week RAISE. Seems VERY premature at this point, regardless of how we THINK Coach Pruitt is doing. I like the guy. This isn't a comment on Pruitt himself, it's a question about how we compensate him. This is gonna be a long year, a winning season will be tough. The extension is an attempt to keep the recruits committed. Not for a job well done on the field.
Agents would never allow that.I"m totally on board with the wisdom of the extension. Perhaps someone can enlighten me, as I don't follow coaching compensation packages. Is there any precedent in the NCAA for performance bonuses..?? Set some performance goals for the program..number of wins for example and when they are met...Coach gets a nice fat check. Beat Florida..add $$. Beat Bama..add $$$$. LOSE to Vanderbilt...YOU OWE US.

I like the move. Just think it’s odd because everyone’s finances are messed up this year. Must have had some outside support pick this up.I would think if anything this would help recruiting. For example, 21' Recruit Dylan Brooks said that he would remain committed and sign as long as Pruitt is still coach.

Does that mean the new coach gets to behead Saban and gain "The Quickening"?Alabama is treating their next coaching search like the movie 'Highlander'; If the coach has never beaten Saban, he can't be considered for the job.
100% correct.Agents would never allow that.
He is/was the 12th highest paid coach in the SEC. In 2021, he'll probably be 9th or 10th . . . so it's the cost of doing business and he's a good deal.I"m totally on board with the wisdom of the extension.
