Pruitt gets two year extension

Fulmer and the Administration don’t care about Ga State now after the win streak and the status of the program as of today.

Win streak is only against the lower SEC teams. The teams they should have beat and some of those games were not pretty offensively.
If a coach is the worth employing, he's worth a 4 year commitment.

Well he was already at six years from the start.

All the elite SEC teams have wins against lower level teams. Irrelevant point. The win streak is on the record. You don’t take points away because you not not believe they were worthy opponents and when you are In the process of a program rebuild.

True, but it’s not like hed somehow be worse at Bama. They’ll pay him a stupid amount of $$$ were he won’t be able to say No.
Eh.
Its not like Clemson is shorting him now.

He is essentially Clemson football. Past and present.

The day he walks into Tuscaloosa he starts behind Saban and Bryant. They won't care what he won at Clemson or anywhere else. They are the bar and the road has more obstacles.

It’s not an irrelevant point. People are pointing out the win streak against teams we should’ve won anyways. If you can bring up the win streak from last year, you can bring up the loss to Georgia State as well.

Regardless, it’s a new year. The streak doesn’t carry over.

This is gonna be a long year, a winning season will be tough. The extension is an attempt to keep the recruits committed. Not for a job well done on the field.

Apparently it’s
Irrelevant to Fulmer and the Admin and most of us Vol fans who are encouraged by the
program today. Maybe not irrelevant to the pessimistic fans.
The win streak is ongoing until we lose.

Pruitt is an equity coach.

He didn't come here with a resume of a proven HC.

He dropped some with the start last year, but gained some with the finish. And his recruiting has been solid. If he makes another positive step this year on the field, 22" should be a stout class.

Hes not the guy yet, but he's moving the right way.

Believe Pruitt is the 9th highest paid coach in the SEC...which is about right at this stage. Hope to see the day we are worth top 3-4 paid.

Bama hired Mike Price, Mike Shula and Mike Dubose before they got to Sabsn. They're every bit as capable of screwing up a hire as we are.
Mike Price was a homerun hire before he screwed up...Mike Dubose won an SEC title while at Alabama and was named SEC coach of the year, Mike Shula?...I'll give you that one...He sucked

Size, talent, and speed have improved on the D.
Offense will still not be good.
The D cannot overcome all the three and punts from our O.
I’m hoping for a ball control productive offense behind our massive offensive line and a stout defense to surprise this year. Plus we have uncertainty at Alabama and Georgia with the Qb positions. You never know. Plus you never know about our freshman Wr’s and how fast they mature. Speed at that position can be a difference maker against the elite SEC teams.

The fact is there are not a lot of elite coaches out there when you need them.
Kinda like hookers and cops.

I don’t think Pruitt ends up at Bama nor do I think they come after him. They will literally throw the kitchen sink at Dabo.

I would be surprised if Dabo left for anyone. He plays in an easier conference, made Clemson what it is today, lives in a nicer area, made more than Saban last year and has owned Bama two out of the last three years. Would he throw that away to follow in the footsteps of a man he is already outperforming for vanity?

if he wins a Natty next year(very likely) im guessing he will be the 3rd highest paid in the country

I am not sure a ball control offense can beat today's elite teams.
The game has changed, for better or worse.
Gotta score TDs early and often.

Now that he has his extension in hand, which may have come prematurely, he needs to rise to the occasion, embrace the grind, and finish with a strong performance, to the satisfaction of a crowd of spectators. The extension provides some longevity which will appeal to future prospects, because they’ll know that he’s their man for the foreseeable future.

I am going to go out on a limb and vote that he embraced the grind the day he signed up for the job.

I don't know, changing the TN current player culture and climate alone is worth the extension. I don't think many realize the job he undertook. Lyle ****ing blemished the TN brand under his lack of leadership. Personally I have seen more fight in our Vols these last few years than I have in a long time.
Vols fought hard for Butch those first 3.5 years... and while Butch was no Pruitt in character, I have read Hamilton didn’t give him near the support Fulmer has given Pruitt. Still, I share your sentiments about the culture rebuild.

This is the right move and right time IMO.. Good will gesture and cost us relatively no money, plus shows this season has no bearing on his tenure, which it shouldn’t.

This sets up a lot of room on his next extension IF he can get us to ATL, which is the next step back.
