Pruitt Confidence level?

Right after Dickey retired and Hamilton took the reigns of the AD.

Right after Fulmer pushed for Hamilton is more accurate. Hammy wasn’t the first choice (and no I can’t remember who was under consideration).

My point was every team/coach has an off day, it’s understandable. Our team/coach has had several which is not.

Ok, so what’s going to change?
If Butch Jones wins 6-7 games last year he’s still here this year.
My university just doesn’t care about winning.
Keeping that in mind CJP is here for a while. Now the question becomes can he make Tennessee a winner? IMO this year told me nothing. He went 5-7 which is what I thought before we lost 3 O lineman from an already thin squad.

My way to early predictions for next year is 7- maybe 8 wins.
And a whole lot of mindless bitching from the fans who want more from a university that just doesn’t care

Bunch of idiots in here, so he’s suppose to take a crap roster, with a mediocre recruiting class and suddenly be competing for the east?

You seem to exaggerate our position so you can call us idiots. The IDIOTS you are talking about only asked for a little improvement week to week so by the end of the year we could see it. Major fail on the coaching part and YOUR part. You were very unfair in that post

Nothing is going to change. At best CJP is an 8-9 wins per year coach, a lesser Mark Richt if you will. The powers that be will continue to extend him as long as he makes bowl games.

Styles make fights.
We beat teams that were more one demential. The balanced teams lit us up.
(Except for the Florida 6 turn over **** show

Good quarterbacks made us look bad all season. It’s almost like CJP threw the season in order to develop two true freshmen corners for the future.

You have the good. AU and UK wins.
The bad. Not closing out SC.
The ugly. Nasty Ls to UF, Mizzou, and Vandy.

The last 2 weeks are hard to ignore. We didnt give a $#!+ tonite and that cant be excused in anyway shape or form. Tonite wasnt about talent gaps or lack of depth. It was about lack of give a damn. It's on the head coach when it's good, bad, or ugly. So he can catch the heat just like he can the praise when it goes good. That's part of the job.

He took over a disease riddle program left over by the band geek so that factors in. They dont just have talent and depth problems. They have attitude problems. If he has a team over the next 2 years that plays with that attitude then hes not long for this place. But until he has time to weed some of that out he has an incomplete with me. He knows what it's supposed to look like. The question is can he actually do that. That wasnt gonna be answered this year but he missed on a finish that could have helped the confidence level.

You will see a decidedly better team next year.

You know we may have played the 4 best QBs in college football this season with (Grier, Fromm, Tua, and Lock). I think Shurmer grades out as at least a top 15 QB as well as Stidham (even though he's playing in the wrong system). And these star QBs by and large took advantage of our defense.

And with the exception of KY, Auburn (how?) and some cupcakes, everyone took advantage of our OL.

We were kinda like Purdue vs Ohio State. It was an accident.

Once I would say was an accident, but doing it twice in one season shows me that there is something there and not just two accidents.

Pruitt is on a learning curve as HC. He will get better next year. Think about your selves, how many of us were not better at a tough job after having done it for a year or two than we were when we were greenhorns.

My confidence is pretty high in him. I see this season as making him even more focused on the game. He will not want to suffer another beat down at the hands of Vandy, or Bama, pr UGA. Although we will not be in a position to do much about the last two next year. We can just hope to make a game of it with those 2 next year.

I agree with all except the win total. I have no idea if he will be that good or if he’ll be better than that. There’s just not enough information for me to have an opinion.

Serious question (let me preface this with I am a Pruitt supporter), when you get down to apples to apples, do we have less talent than Vandy even after attrition, coaching changes, etc? I don't think we do (not positive) so that's what makes me worried.

I am struggling to find positives right now. It would be nice to at least think we were headed in the right direction with competent leadership. The reality is... we have no idea. We are very bad and the future is completely uncertain. Oh, well...

Without a doubt, he failed year one. We'll see what we can do from here. But there's no way this season can be polished up to look like something other than a turd.

Vandy was senior heavy. 27, I think, contributed. It makes a difference. How much is debatable. Honestly if we beat Vandy by 1 we still would be at the bottom of the SEC. we have a long way to go. And it’s not getting better anytime soon

Everyone here that is Vols fan is a Pruitt supporter, his succeeding means UT succeeds. There are legitimate questions as to if he can.

We struggle against good QBs. I think Pruitt can make big strides with the secondary next year but I worry about replacing the front 7.

I also expected more from our offense this year; that was surprising but it’s honestly a JG issue. The dude doesn’t go through progressions..stares down receivers and then throws it to them.

I admire JGs heart but need to fix the QB issue quick or next year doesn’t get a whole lot better.

Well, 5-7 first season closed out with back to back embarrassing losses. Honestly makes me wonder how tf we beat Auburn and Kentucky. What do guys think of year 1?

I know the reasonable thing would say “he just doesn’t have the players yet.” And that is 100 true. But no UT coach should ever lose to Vandy, let alone get beat down by them. It has honestly made me question him a lot. How do you be a competent coach and even let this happen?
Unfortunately vandy has better players than we do thanks to butch. See this springs NFL draft for proof. I personally have great confidence in CJP.

I've lost all confidence...I think the Pruitt regime is another failed experiment... I'd personally take Fulmer back at the helm... he could eke out 8 wins a season even with a roster this poor...

Doubt Cut would come back to be his OC.

Competing for the East? Competing for the sixth win is expected. Got blown out by Missouri and Vandy is concerning. The two wins against ranked teams were great, but it not the program many expect.
