I agree. The drop off even with big investment is staggering. I feel like he can only save his job if he finishes top 4 and wins FA cup, or wins Champions League outright.

Danny Welbeck kills you guys
Welbeck definitely loves playing against LFC.

Idc what he does, I’m ready for him to be out. Not a big fan of his style of play. It was supposedly a style that limits injuries and well you’ve seen how that has gone thus far. Also a night and day difference between this team and their energy in EPL vs CL, which imho comes down to management of the squad.

Also think questions need to be asked of Hughes/Edwards - not quite sure why we bought Isak after securing Ekitike who seemed to be a better fit for the squad (albeit hindsight 50/50). Never replaced Diaz and never answered glaring needs at DM and CB.

Only took 18 games for this Chelsea team to quit on Liam Rosenoir. He’s wiped away any clear identity this team had in record time.

Absolutely abysmal from Spurs today. I’m officially worried for them now. By early April, the table is no longer telling any lies. They’re down there because they really are THAT bad.

Their supporters basically took a page from Everton’s playbook from a few years ago and tried to turn up the atmosphere with a coach welcome, etc. When Everton supporters did this, the team responded by going and getting a result almost every time. Spurs meanwhile were a complete no-show today. They barely even got booed off the pitch because there was no one left in the ground to boo. That atmosphere has the potential to get very toxic in the coming weeks.

A few weeks ago when I said I thought they would get at most 4 points the rest of the season, I was counting on a point from Forest.

Glad Wolves is away, that may be the only hope for points in the remaining fixtures.

When’s the last time one of the 10 most valuable soccer clubs in the world got relegated from its top flight?

City in 2001. Chelsea in 1988. Spurs in 1977. Prior to that it was United in 1974.

Crazy though Villa and Newcastle both went down in 2016.
No way any of those clubs were Top 10 worldwide value at the times they went down. I think it would be almost impossible to figure out for certain, but I’d wager that it’s never actually happened before.

Didn’t realize just how rough Spurs’ run in is. They’ve got Sunderland next, and Wolves in late April, but aside from that, every other game may be against a team needing points either for Europe or survival. No real solidly mid table opponents who are likely to already be on the beach.

Yeah, probably most shocking since United in 74.

Yeah, this is what I was getting at. I’m trying to put it into historical context but I don’t know enough about how the power and money have shifted in Europe over the decades. I don’t know of any other time something like this has happened. United in ‘74 is the classic example thrown around in the British press but I’m not sure it how well it fits here.

As far as relegation goes, the players are the only ones who can change it at this point. I find it interesting that without our two world class center backs we were able to fight to a draw at Anfield but with them back in the side, we wilt at home after going down 1-0.
