I don’t always agree with the guy myself, but most of what he releases is his personal take based on his own observations. Quarrel with that as is your wont, but characterizing them as lies is personalizing your disagreement. I disagree with MANY of your observations, but I’m sure I haven’t interjected LIAR into any of our arguments. I think you believe what you’re saying...think the same of Austin. Nothing wrong with just calling them...wrong.
I’m sorry but it’s a LIE when you witness a practice and every qb looked equal in their own rights and he reports that JG looked far and above the others. It’s a LIE when he cherry picks a positive play from JG out of said practice to report when JTS or Maurer or both did the exact same thing (hence my quote to you last night about the 73 yarder). It’s a LIE when he reports a particular pass from Hendon Hooker as if he was the only one to accomplish such a pass only to learn later that it was caught on video and posted on social media of said pass. Only the video showed more impressive passes made by the other two. It’s a LIE when he reports that “HH is CLEARLY #1” when he obviously knows nothing more than anyone else. And every report to this point certainly seems to be a LIE after what we all seen in the spring game. Turns out every bit of what he said was the complete opposite. HH looked like JG and not good at all. Maurer was nothing like he had reported outside of big play ability and Bailey didn’t look to be so far behind in accuracy. All the evidence points to an ongoing LIE. And none of the evidence points to anything even resembling the truth.

I know I’m not saying I think bailey is boring, I love his game, he just isn’t flashy and everyone seems to think this offense has to have a gunslinger mobile mentality. When all Bailey does is make the proper throws.
He made some nice deep throws and put receivers in situations to be successful. That's plenty flashy for me. I think you are pretty unfair with Maurer. He's a different style to be sure but he wasn't reckless that I saw. Just different. He's going to take more risks. That's his nature. If he can give you the big plays and avoid the big mistakes then he's going to be good.

Why are you so "either/or" with the QB's?

Why would Milton scare Bailey or Maurer based on Saturday?

He's way behind in learning the system and was spotty at Michigan.
When did I say it would? I think Milton isn't good, I quite clearly said Hooker is the one most likely to transfer out with him coming in.

Hooker only took snaps with the first O this past Saturday. He came out second but took the first series with the #1 O. Maurer and Bailey split time between the 1's and 2's. Hooker threw 14 pass with the White team while Maurer threw 6 and Bailey only threw 4.

I'm not saying that means "everything".... but there's a good chance it means something.

Based on Saturday... I don't think any of the 3 are likely to leave. I also don't think Milton has an easy path to even rise from 4th on the depth chart based on his past play and how far behind he is now with the offensive install.

Because Bailey has now shown all last season in game and now in his first spring in game that he is the better QB. I don’t think any QB on roster is necessarily All SEC but HB is the best QB on roster again. Maurer is definitely more reckless. He tries to do too much when HB just finds the open guy and gets him the ball.

It’s his OPINION. For it to be a LIE, you need us to buy that he KNOWS differently. “CLEARLY” is in the eye of the beholder. And we’re basing everything on what we glimpsed on Saturday. He glimpsed smaller batches in smaller sample sizes. You’re applying some agenda to the guy because you’re so personally offended.

Not exactly. He beat up on the scout team this past Saturday. He only threw 4 passes vs the 1's. He did what was asked of him but you have to look deeper before declaring him the better QB. And you should probably ask yourself why so many of his plays and throws came against and with the "Orange" team. You'd also have to know what these guys did in the previous scrimmages and team periods which none of us do.

You have a bias. For some reason you've chosen a "horse" and find it necessary to ignore anything that weighs against him and then dismiss or even unfairly criticize the others. Why not pull for all three guys? Why not look for the good in all of them and acknowledge the bad?

Johnny Manziel was reckless... and really Burrow was too. The latter learned to control it... and it made him great.

I voted B Maurer.

Only reasons:
1) I like his story
2) he’s got moxie
3) CJH recruited him at UCF

What anyone does in Spring Game means nothing. It’s like pre-season NFL. If the opposite was true, Joe Gilliam would be in the HOF and Terry Bradshaw would still be trying to make country music. Also.....I don’t care who wins the job......just play well!

Gotta base it on a total body of work and for 14 practices Bailey has been behind. One good day shouldn’t change that when he was facing inferior competition on the defensive side of the ball. Maurer faced the starters more than all of them and to boot, he only had the offensive starters once.

Maurer won't be the starter on this team imo. He's a good backup type qb, but he's not our guy. I'm not sure about BM facing the staters only and Bailey only facing backups. I'm about to watch the full game and we'll see. Either way, if BM struggles against our defense which is probably only 50% of what it should be, he won't be able to get it done against anyone. Hes an ok runner and has a strong arm, but he has no touch, didn't seem to progress through reads, not best decision maker, and kind of has always been a throw it deep and pray guy. He looks the same in year 3as he did in year 1. And I'm a huge Maurer fan ftr.

Bailey is accurate, makes mostly good decisions and proved he could do it against SEC caliber defenses as true freshman without even having a spring camp. He's not the most mobile, but he picks up yards when forced to run. The only thing I'm seeing right now, is that he has to get the ball out sooner and that will come with experience.

Don't expect Hooker to do anything.

I would have loved to see where Salter would have been. He may get things on track and take over as a TF.

Then we have Milton coming in also. Ive seen a lot of people crying about this, but we honestly could use another qb and he has the potential to be what everyone hoped Maurer could be.

May the best man win.

I wouldn't call it "lying". But he does report a narrative based often on his personal biases.

I believe his narrative to be false or questionable because he does do some of the things 1vol8 described. He focuses heavily on some things while ignoring things that do not align with his narrative.

You make great points,peaygolf!

But why do that at this point? Why take shots at a guy who is obviously still in it? It only sets you up to root against him if he wins the job.

We used to have a character around here who went by k-town_king. He was a MASSIVE JG homer. When JG and Dormady were competing he declared that JG was by far the best and would be the starter. When Dormady won the job... he chose to pull against him and nitpick him rather than swallow his pride and be a Vol fan.

You are vesting yourself in one guy when as a Vol fan you should be supportive and open to all of them.

Predict the QB after 15 practices, not even full speed, of a completely new system, with a set of new coaches and those coaches have a new set of players? This program is in the infancy of installing new philosophy and culture. Anyone taking anything positive or negative from this spring is likely going to have screwed up expectations. They will still be trying to learn about each other in late August.

No way anyone can correctly predict (might get lucky LOL) what the QB room will look like come the first game let alone who will be the starter.

Sportwriting (and human) tendency. Make the “facts” fit what you believe. 😏

I completely agree. Idk how many more times a QB has to prove they’re the best in game. Did it all last season and this weekend again. I’m not saying he’s going to be the greatest but he is the best QB on THIS roster again.
Maurer played the highest percentage against the #1 defense. By a wide margin at that. I'm comfortable saying he's number one at the moment.
But, I've been researching a bit more on MIlton this morning. He had a bad situation there at UM. He's no JG. He can make all the throws with ease. He probably has the best mechanics too.
Still...the good ones can fight through the hardships. Harbaugh is pretty awful to play for. And Milton seems to be an intelligent kid graduating in 3 years.
JT Daniels looked average while at USC. He has improved quite a bit under Monken at UGA. So, I could see Milton doing the same thing maybe.

Bailey was consistent. Even against the 1st unit he looked solid. Still...the ball needs to move faster from point A to Point B with him. He has too much touch sometimes. He needs to watch how Peyton Manning puts velocity not just air on his throws.
Both Maurer and Bailey have improved in a short amount of time.

My bet is on Maurer, because of his speed and ability to keep the offense on the proper tempo.
He just needs to continue to better his concentration. I think he wins the job with a strong summer.
If he gets hurt...Bailey would step right in and be able to operate.

Hooker is a non-factor at this point imo

Pinpoint on your pass attempts is the same whether you are playing against a great defense or mediocre defense. Bailey was on target.
If nothing else has been dispelled, the “he’s just a dinker and dunker and can’t challenge defenses deep” myth has been retired.

That's true.
The difference is Janceck wouldn't be that far down field or open against a Warren Burrell. Burrell would have stayed on top of him after jamming him. William Wright is a walk-on that didn't even start full time for his high school.
Regardless, In those situations has shown to go through his progression and find the other guy most of the time.

Joe Milton will be our new QB. Our defense is not very good, and they were playing a vanilla zone coverage during the O&W game. That alone makes it easy for the QB and WR to
make plays. They won’t see a ton of zone coverage during SEC play.
