Possible OC Candidates

I'm hearing Erik Ainge and Brent Schaeffer are likely being brought in to share the job. Will be announced later this afternoon.
:crossfingers:

Gus Malzone was at Springdale Arkansas as a high school coach. He had NO college experience. Houston Nutt hired him to be the offensive Coordinator at Arkansas.
He left Arkansas and went to be the O C at Auburn. Won a National Championship. Once he saw that the head coach was in hot water, he left Auburn and was hired as the Head coach at Arkansas State.
Once Auburn's head coach was fired, he returned to Auburn to be their head coach.

It does happen. It has happened.

It Butch hired a HS coach VN would burn down the town.:thud:

Apparently you do not watch any Maryville Football.

I was wondering what Maryville & GT had in common too! GQ at MHS has to be the best HSFB coach EVER! His record at MHS is 223-14 in 16 years!! (And that includes an 11-4 record in 2000 when he started the season 0-4 & won the state title!) He just doesn't lose! He won 74 straight from 04-08 & has been in every state title game since 2004, winning all but 2 I believe. Fulmer talked to him in 2008 about coming to UT, but it didn't work out. Would hate to lose him at Maryville but I guarantee you he would be excellent with the Vols!

Hate on him if you like. He's a VFL whether some like him or not. Oh, by the way he is from Morristown, went to at Morristown East, former Vol QB, former Vol OC, and has 2 NC rings......:zeitung_lesen:

Happy for him. Appreciate his effort for the program.

He still isn't worth a d-mn as an offensive coordinator.

Picking up george would certainly help build the fence around the state, garuntee he has some ties with A LOT of instate coaches as well as neighboring states (see Georgia).

I'm not sold on the idea of promoting Azzanni to OC.....I haven't seen enough from Azzanni to support this move..will Butch's loyalty over ride him hiring from outside?
Stay tuned VN....this will be important

Quick check of the most prolific offenses of 2014 shows a few candidates that I think would should be interested in an SEC position:

Bill Legg (marshall) had the #2 offense in 2014
Robert Prince (Boise st) #8 offense

or stay within the SEC an either Jihn Henesy/Billy Gonzalez co-coordinators at Miss St (#10). Miss St is a flash in the pan program, great time for those two to jump ship.

Just some suggestions for discussion

Wait! Is this the same Prince that was the Head coach at Kansas State and bombed out? Might be thinking of a different Prince. Is his wife a princess?

I'm contacting the co-coordinators at TCU (Crumbie or Meacham) and interviewing them ASAP
