He has a high number and it will have to be met for him to go. It absolutely could be met because as you said he’s a huge talent.

The vols pitch is selling him on being a 2 way player and developing in the SEC vs the minors and betting on yourself to be a top 5-10 pick vs second half of first round, which is a big money difference.
It just seems like the risk of not developing like he'd need to to get in that top 5-10 range in three years far outweighs the guarantee of bonus money even as a late 1st rd pick. Hopefully he's confident enough to take that gamble. He's a huge talent.

Carlson and Hall will not be on campus. Ethan Moore likely will not too. Schoolcraft and Appenzeller are the big ones. Appenzeller likely makes it. Schoolcraft much more of a battle and will be a tough pull, although there’s optimism they can pull it off

The 3 transfer portal pitcher commits likely gone - Estrada best chance of them all. Have a chance with Barr too and that’d be a huge one, but probably going to go pro. Close to 0 chance for Edmonson.

Ford has a big number and as a draft eligible sophomore retains leverage by coming. Lots of thought that he had a down sophomore year and could become a first rounder again by coming here and hitting .300+ with 15-20 HRs and 50+ RBIs. They will sweat that one out but good chance he’s in.
There does seem to be some more positive things on Appenzeller making it to campus, lately. Ford is probably 55-45 based on what is being said in the media. It would be awesome to replace Fischer with him. Moore must just not have much interest in playing college ball because he's not "elite" and has some positional questions, as well.

That’s up to him and his team to decide. We don’t really know what he is being offered by MLB teams. They are less and less inclined to give out huge money to highschool kids these days.

But absolutely if he gets money that’s impossible to turn down he will take it and not be on campus. It could go either way

It should be noted that William Schmidt (LSU) was a projected top 20 draft pick in last year’s draft and pulled out of the draft the night before the first round. LSU wasn’t even close to the MLB number, but college baseball is a heck of a lot more attractive now. My thought is, Carlson and Hall are 100% gone, but I’m not marking anyone else off the list until I see it. I’m certainly not counting Tony out when it comes to getting literally any of these guys on campus. That goes for these transfers too. 3 years ago, this stuff wasn’t happening so I’m having a hard time adjusting to the potential of getting these kids on campus but here we are.

It will not take much to sign Moore. He just wants to go pro and doesn’t have much interest in dealing with school. I think it is going to take first round slot money to get Ford away from Tennessee and not sure he’s going to get that.

Agreed. Would be genuinely shocking for Carlson or Hall to be on campus. I think it’d be pretty shocking for Edmonson too. Everyone else has a legitimate chance of making it, although they certainly are going to lose a few of them (Moore, Estrada, Barr, Schoolcraft and Ford are the 5 big names to watch)

McKee said on the latest Diamond Vols podcast that Schoolcraft & Appenzeller (got hurt this past year) have a legitimate path now to get to campus.

Schoolcraft wants to be a 2 way player and TN is selling him on that

It’s kind of crazy just how uncertain our roster for next year looks like right now. Tons of guys that could be everyday impact players that are draft risks. If we can get a solid number of them to stay in school, both high school and transfer, we’ll be loaded with talent. Either way, it’s going to be a very young lineup next year.

Another plus with Schoolcraft is that he's a 3-yr guy. He just turned 18 two months ago. So if we are able to keep him, we get him for 3 years.

What about Appenzeller?
Same thing. He turned 18 in January, so we will get him for 3 years if he makes it to campus. Appenzeller is a great athlete, too. His high school basketball coach said he could have been a D1 athlete in 3 sports (baseball, basketball, and golf). As a basketball player, he led his team in scoring, assists, and steals, and was 2nd in rebounding. Played PG at 6'-6.

Kuhns is definitely staying. Weekend starter next year with a huge arm. He’s a stud and just experienced typical true freshman growing pains.

One of the biggest takeaways I had from the 25 season is how excited I am about Kuhns and Krenzel. Mainly because they both seem so even keeled and cold blooded, I'm excited for what they can bring to the staff in bigger roles.

Aren't you just a breath of fresh air...

I love that duo, but my biggest fear is that Krenzel is on his way to becoming the next Kaden Kent...if you know, you know.

We got really spoiled 2022-23 with freshmen pitching well.

That's not the norm as what Krenzel and Kuhns did this well is closer to the norm

With the incoming freshmen and transfers, Tennessee will doubtlessly be a top-5 team to start the season.

I’m just curious how others will view Tennessee. We’ll be loaded with talent, but it still seems like we’re going to be lacking experience next year. I think our roster is going to heavily reliant on true freshmen, redshirt freshmen, and true sophomores. Lately, we’ve seen teams with experience tend to perform better in June.
