The portal brings out the crazy in people. The coaches suck and nobody wants to win. We should have unlimited money and get whatever and whoever we want. Same nonsense during the winter portal and during last spring. Like my two year old grandson when he doesn’t get his way. No wonder so many long time posters in this forum are just fading away. College sports should be fun and entertaining and not make you miserable. Just seems crazy to say you have to win it all or it’s a failure. Rick Barnes has never won it all and the man is a huge success. I’ll take him over guys like Calipari and Pitino any day. Heupel is of similar character and I think that’s great. So much b*tching and moaning about a HC who has won 74% of his games and 71% of his games at UT.
we should have at least 1WR and a DT.The portal brings out the crazy in people. The coaches suck and nobody wants to win. We should have unlimited money and get whatever and whoever we want. Just did it. It’s insane. Not sure if they are just miserable or have no grasp of reality. We are Tennessee so we should get whatever and whoever we want. There are money trees on the Ag campus so just go pick it and pick out what you need.Anyone else write a post addressing the constant whining by the same 4 posters and then just delete because it’s useless to think it’s going to change?
Ding, ding, ding we have a winner. If the NIL estimates that have been floated anround are true then it’s going to be tough to assemble a roster like Ohio State. Like it or not NIL is very important in recruiting now.
If the estimates are true, then not only are we working with about 1/2 to 2/3 of their budget, but we also spend aggressively on three other sports which some of these teams do not.
So at some point a decision is gonna have to be e made. Do we keep spreading the money around or do we start pouring money into maybe one or two sports? If it’s the latter, which two sports? If the NIL estimates that have been floated anround are true then it’s going to be tough to assemble a roster like Ohio State. Okay. You do that. I'll be on cloud nine when we're playing for championships, so I won't give a damn what you're saying anyway. So you’re good with ****** football and stumbling into the SECCG with 3-4 loss per season ass your paradigm of what success looks like?
You hang on to that and I’ll ride this. You can pretend you were a believer WHEN CJH plays for championships but I’ll be there to remind you that the standard you expect from Tennessee football doesn’t reflect the standard you hold for…..well, yourself.
Great post! Agree 100% with you! Also known to do more with less. We won way before we should've talent wise. We recruited well the last two years on the OL which usually doesn't give you the rank juice like just getting skills guys. Which is what made Dooley look good with overall rank but he left the trench's barren. We have recruited well on the DL the last few years as well. Look at our CB last year McCoy. No one thought he was really a great portal pick up but our staff did and that is what they do. Try to get the right guys for the position holes. We only lost 5 or 6 so far so retaining most of our guys and not losing any big time players outside of Nico if you really want to call him that. We spent a lot of money to get those linemen out of high school and two really good ones in the portal. We got a 4 star RB to flip to us and a great LB class that we needed. I like how we are building a team while still on restrictions thru probation. Our last game was a college playoff game and you would think we just ended our year at 6-6 or something. Got what should've been a 5 star QB last cycle and arguably the number 1 QB for next year's class committed. We also got a great TE we took from Oregon and the number 1 OT but Tennessee and this staff suck at recruiting because we don't have as much funds for guys looking for that last bag in the portal?
We could use another wide receiver or two but we WANT the young guys to play and the guy from BYU wanted to start and as a wide out he is not better than Matthews, Staley, Smith, Jackson or Brazille. Better returner for sure but we have that covered.
UCF boards have told us he sucks since day 1 yet we have had our best 3 year run in decades with the probation and distraction and should've been in the playoffs 2 of the last 3 years. I really do not think we deserve the great coaches we have. If we do not make the CWS, some of you will be saying Tony V needs to go as well. We have some really stupid people in this fan base. I know others do as well but would think the ones who post in here a lot would not fall into the fringe part of our base.
-APJosh Schell is their top target. He is 6’3 and 290 and the one Garner wanted to go in on. Will he take more visits? That’s the plan but we will see what he says in about an hour.
-HubbsTennessee really likes Schell. He's got multiple years and he is a guy they like in the rotation this year and could be a leader in the room in 2026, much like the progress of Jaxson Moi. Tennessee is elated with Moi's development.
Schell is pretty overwhelmed by all of this but is getting a handle on things. We will see what he is thinking in a day or two. I expect he will take another visit, but he doesn't have the one set to SMU. SMU got the DT transfer from Memphis today. The two are different players so my guess is SMU would take both, but I don't know.
Nice kid.
was a West Point signee and transferred to Grand Valley. Military life wasn't his thing. Part of why he picked Grand Valley was because he played baseball and football but his baseball days are over.
This one doesn't feel like it's all money. Parents were on the visit with him. He has an agent helping them, but this one felt a little more like an old visit and not a business visit.
