I’m sure they are intentionally doing it. I’m sure the BYU WR called them and told them the offer from Miami, and our staff didn’t think he was worth it.
If only it was someone's job to figure it the hell out.

I love Huepel, and Ive given him passes aplenty.

Granted there is still time left. We are now in Spring, and we had the fall too. We simpy havent recruited well. Florida, SC, and others got better. Every time a Tamu player got called in draft, it made me shake my head.!

We had a golden opportunity after a playoff match. Instead it looks like we may be same if not worse at that position, certainly from depth perspective.

To me it all comes back to coaching. And, jury has been deliberating on Halzle and Pope as recruiters, coaches, and play callers for a while...

And people still think this staff doesn’t have an issue with recruiting…
Defensive staff has no issue recruiting. Reason why we have been successful is defense the last two years. Offensive staff needs some turnover and help recruiting ASAP. But I doubt that happens so we pray the defense keeps carrying us.

I can tell you exactly why:

Heupel actually hired defensive coaches, whereas he hired his friends as his offensive coaches, which if he has a downfall here it will be because of that

Golesh was that good of a coach and dynamic personality was good fit for recruiting

I’ll take Ws on the field over offseason recruiting “wins” that give fans the warm and fuzzies. If those go away then I’m sure more people will grab the recruiting pitchfork and join you on the march.
The not so fun thing is, we haven’t been replacing the talent we’ve been losing to the point of idk if the wins will keep coming

Listening to AP the past couple weeks, it seems like the staff really likes Matthews, Brazzell, & Staley as our starting WR group. Guess its hard to convince someone to come be a rotational piece.

Most won’t like it (I wish they’d get another guy) but they seem confident in what we have
That's the thing the makes the most sense

Tennessee hardly had enough players to make it through 15 spring practices because so many kids were held out due to injury. An SEC season tests roster quality and depth.

let’s play a fun game, name who you think were the top 10 offensive players here so far, and the top 10 defensive players here so far, and let’s see who and how they were recruited.

Offense (no particular order)
1. Hooker (Pruitt)
2. Hyatt (Pruitt)
3. Darnell Wright (Pruitt)
4. Cooper Mays (Pruitt)
5. Cade Mays (Pruitt)
6. Jalen Wright (was committed to the class prior to Pruitt being fired, was developed by our rb coach)
7. Sampson (Heupel/Mack)
8. Tillman (Pruitt)
9. Milton (Heupel)
10. Spraggins (Pruitt)

Defense (no order either)

1. pearce (Heuepel)
2. McCoy (Heupel)
3. Butler (butch)
4. Omari Thomas (Pruitt)
5. Alontae Taylor (Pruitt)
6. Josephs (Heupel)
7. Simmons (Pruitt)
8. Banks (Pruitt)
9. Arion Carter (Heupel)
10. Telander/west/Hobbs/RG3 (Heupel)

Not advocating for Pruitt in any way shape or form, just showing this to show how our staff has mostly relied on players who were here prior to them offensively, but defensively we have been able to recruit and develop the talent better

Exactly! I've said this exact same thing. Our Defensive staff is pretty damn good. Our offensive staff is a bunch of Heupel's buddies. I really wish he would bring in an established OC and bring in a staff that matches what each wants to do. That definitely worked for Day last year. I'd kill to have a Hartline on our staff recruiting and developing.

Pruitt recruiting them doesn’t matter, Pruitt didn’t develop any of those guys.

Have to develop guys once you get them
