'25 Portal Thread

If that’s really something they’re trying to use to entice him all we gotta do is offer his brother too. He has a clear path to playing time here, and if I’m not mistaken he will be graduated by the time his brother even gets in college right? This is ridiculous by Miami lol

Nah, he had full support to build the roster in an attempt to get a FF. Ament was part of it but so was Rice or another SG
He had full support to build the roster but Ament funds were separate and that’s where the most of the “booster support” part came from. Our NIL was mostly for everyone else. This was commented on over a week ago. Boosters weren’t specifically funding Rice but just added some supplement to the budget.

This was the quote regarding Ament…
“We have a set of donors who have agreed to fund this outside our existing budget. That gives us freedom to swing at this with no downside.”

We need to be more aggressive in the portal. Is the BYU WR the only WR we've scheduled for a visit?
When I think of Heupel, "aggressive" doesn't seem to fit. Honestly, I think his inactivity in the portal is his way of not pushing any of our kids on the roster into the portal plus I guess he's a true believer in his staff, their evals and development prowess. <shrug>

I do think he feels he has to walk a tight rope some, but I dont think he lacks aggressiveness at all. The final decision isnt his, and I simply think the issue is we just dont have the money that some of these other schools have.

Not visiting anymore
Wow, what is going on? it feels like something is off, like big time. Vandy is getting commits, we're losing starters, 26' commits going elsewhere, not getting guys to visit at positions of true need and ZERO momentum for '26 and '27, it seems.

This feels like when we were on probation.

Personally, I think everyone has caught wind of our offensive staff and is blowing our doors off with negativity.

When was the last time we got a transfer commitment, at a position of need, of someone another school coveted?

Gotta hope the Mcneese WR makes it in this weekend. He’s only going to be a sophomore this year, and he had nearly 600 yds last year and 3tds as a freshman. He’s quick and he’s 6’4” so he’s a solid prospect. If he makes it here after the Oklahoma visit we will have a good chance IMO.
