'25 Portal Thread

I like the Hurst kid from Georgia St. That size fits well with our passing scheme as its good to have a guy who can jump up and get a contested ball, kind of like McCoy did for us in '23. He is not the fastest but there are a lot of highlights where he is behind the defense. Also made a lot of catches while getting hit and keeping possession.

So who are our LB's next season? Depth?

razor thin position group... with mixed reviews. If one gets hurt...?

Don't understand the staff's mindset on reloading/balancing depth at position groups... Teams will most likely scheme against our lack of talent/experience/depth there...

Seems like LB is razor thin every single season for as far back as i can remember 😂

Isaiah Johnson is 3d from last in ranking and is 6 away from 3,276. yikes...I don't even see the other guy. I know to trust RG and rankings aren't everything but this is extreme
Johnson is unranked in the portal. He was a 3* coming out of HS, but On3 has yet to rank him as a transfer.

Why does their portal ranking matter? Some ex-tire salesman turned internet recruiting analyst forgot to rank him. Doesnt matter. He has game film against other college football teams. Our coaches apparently think he can play

I’m not saying he’s good but if you think on3 is actually evaluating all the players in the portal….

He was talking about where the kid was ranked on On3 when he's not ranked on On3. I was just pointing that out.

You can unwad your panties now.

Like I said, I trust RG but you also have to look at the competition for these guys. I thought we had plenty of money still. Why aren't we battling the big boys here in the Spring?

My guess is
Mlb: Telander, Bolton, Perlotte
WLB: Carter, Spillman, Harmon

If we run 4-3 sets Spillman might be the olb

Can’t wait to land a couple wide receivers so we can all calm down. Lol

BYU receiver is going to get a bag.
I don't understand the obsession over him. 346 yards and 1 TD last year is hardly inspiring. He was BYU's 3rd leading receiver last year. I wouldn't mind having him on the team but not going to lose sleep over it.

I’ve calmed down, checked around and hopeful Thomas makes his way back to us. As long as no one drops what we would consider too big a bag for him I think they can work out a bump he can live with.

I do agree we desperately need some good news/momentum and hopefully it comes after this weekend.

It’s so secondary right now but we have been doing great work to position ourselves for a GREAT 2026 class run this summer.

But hard to get as excited about that in the current environment.
Never heard you being so negative before.

Best kick returning in the nation though. So a WR with experience is a nice bonus.

Did signing Avent in basketball team have any negative impact on offers in football?
