I like Heupel I think he’s a good solid coach but he could be a bit better potential wise if he seemed more aggressive in talent acquisition. Just reading what the insiders say on here it seems like he isn’t as aggressive or more content than the other 3 coaches. I even think Weekly has stolen a few good transfers as well for Softball, I know she recruits top 5 nationally.

I think it’s more about money. Heup is more dog than his persona gives away.

the poster that said we have mid offensive coaches hit nail on the head. our defensive coaches are aggressive and results show.

offensive coaches just aren't good recruiters. period. which isnt what you want in this offense in this league.

Could y’all imagine if Heupel was like Vitello/Caldwell/Barnes in the portal? Stealing away other big schools top players?
Exactly, I have been stating this in my posts for months, and most people on this forum believe I am being negative toward the football program. However, the fact is that there is no excuse for why we are not bringing in elite talent from the transfer portal. We cannot even out-recruit Freeze or Napier, who was on the hot seat.

So softball, baseball and basketball has more money the UT football? Don’t think so it’s because Heupel can not recruit. Vitello recruited elite right when he arrived here. Harper when she was here could not recruit but yet Caldwell has the number 1 class.

I could be way off base with Heupel, I don’t know. Just a feeling from what multiple insiders say on here as well as some of what the media insiders like AP have talked about roster wise the last few years. Maybe they are super aggressive like the others but they miss more? I don’t know. But hope for the best obviously. When we go into a season where Tennessee is talked about as a top contender you know we’ve made it to that status again

And yet Heupel has done far more than either of those two. Has it ever occurred to some of you all that Heupel targets players who fit what he needs, regardless of recruit rankings? I’d much rather have a coach who does more with less than less with more. History being what it is, I’m just find with what he’s been doing with the players he goes after.

So I wonder if we can technically have 85 now since the NCAA has set a 105 limit? The 85 limit is SEC enforced, but the 2 scholarship reduction is set by the NCAA. If my math is right, 85 is less than 103.
They haven't passed the 105 limit yet. It's still 85 for everyone.

Not a big loss IMO, but another transfer out for us

I forgot he was on the team, to be honest.

So, probably a good move for him. Wish him the best.

I’ve heard literally 10+ other names on the OL this offseason…
Heard
(2) Transfer OGs
Satterwhite
Johnson
Warren
Sanders
Anderson
Perry
Umurov

I think we’re fine.
