'25 Portal Thread

I like this guy. Almost all of his production is just sitting in the soft part of the zone. So that makes me wonder if he struggles in man coverage. But he's got some great catches and routes in here. All 3 TDs included.

One thing to note is that his average YPC and yards per route run were much lower in 24 vs 23 because of the offensive scheme that Cal ran. It’s just less downfield passing. Also notable that he played outside WR due to injuries to his teammates instead of his more natural spot in the slot

I wish we had pursued that safety from Houston. Kid played well last year. Has Miami, LSU, and Ole Piss after him. But we rarely chase players like that in the portal. Not sure why, as his play last year was far superior to our safety play last year.
Big bet to pay more for less experienced high school kids and hope they don’t leave you later, as opposed to paying more for a known commodity. The right call, if it works. A depth killing move, or at worst just as costly as the alternative, if it’s doesn’t work.

Many are disregarding that we will use the TE's even more with the wrinkles that have been installed. DaSaan Brame has turned everyone's head since he's been on campus and will be a weapon if he can continue to progress in the blocking scheme. We also have a high IQ proven product in Kitsleman and then Davis, who should be very happy with the plan for the TE's using the hash and middle of the field. We won't run a many sets with 3 or 4 true WR's. We'll run 12 personnel but in many different sets and give Boo a ton of opportunities to get the ball in space from jet to screens. They have who they are confident in already on the roster. Anyone they bring in will be depth that likely won't see much PT. There hasn't been a single receiver in the portal who has presented enough value to make them want to disrupt what they see as the most talented group we've had here in Heuple's tenure.

I was told by many that Heupel doesn’t know what he’s doing …It’s almost like he has a plan and knows what he’s doing . In all seriousness, Davis could and should be a matchup nightmare. I’d love to see him utilized more in the red zone.
