This would be a perfect pickup honestly. Like him more than others we wanted more. Cals offense is terrible. I mean real bad and he still got decent stats.

Feel like this is a perfect fit for our offense and the spot we have available. Nothing super flashy but looks like Cal used him similarly to how we would in our offense with bubble screens, jet sweeps, etc.

Just have to hope he's not being offered a primary role elsewhere.

Eric, are we still talking to Jakobe Thomas, or is he gone for sure? And are we looking for a safety and a corner? Anyone we feeling good about?

Sounds like Jakobe is done as of now. Think our improved offer we gave him last week was contingent on him not officially entering.

Talking to Hood and Austin. I think it’s not 100% defined if they’d play backup nickel or corner and we move Beasley to full time S or some other shuffling.

I think we just know we need at least another DB. We do a good job recruiting guys who can move around so we do have some flexibility.

We had a better offer for him and he still got in the portal? Jakobe is a damn fool.

I wish we had pursued that safety from Houston. Kid played well last year. Has Miami, LSU, and Ole Piss after him. But we rarely chase players like that in the portal. Not sure why, as his play last year was far superior to our safety play last year.

I would think we’d be looking at Safeties, unless we’re confident that Thomas will come back. It’s just Turrentine, Farooq, Beasley, and Jourdan Thomas (coming off a major injury) at that spot right now. I don’t think Sidney Walton is ready. I think Dylan Lewis is a Star. Not sure what position Goree is playing (CB, Star, or Safety).
