Will Grant be coming back for his last season? We need him in the worst way!

What are everyone's thoughts?

He is a tweener. He could be the first 3x sec poy in many years. Second in history. The way he looked after last nights rip off would indicate he’s coming back. This team will look really good with Josiah James, dj burns, Grant, Bowden, turner.

I love Grant but I think he's too short to play at the next level.
I don’t think he is, he’s the same size as Pj Tucker I believe. But even if he is too short he’s not gonna grow more by staying in school. I would LOVE for him to stay, I just really doubt he will

The way he looked after last nights rip off would indicate he’s coming back but their are already rumors flying that : bone and grant are gone, j Johnson and pons are transferring. I don’t believe those and think bone will leave , grant will stay and Josiah James and dj burns will be awesome at this time next year and will hold an sec regular season championship.
These aren't rumors they're just peoples opinions that they've heard from their brother-in-law's cousin's step-brother.

My question is what position do the NBA scouts project him to play?
Same question for for Kyle?
Kyle is too soft for the NBA. He'd have to add so much strength and find some toughness somewhere. I appreciate everything Kyle did for us but I'm so ready for the Burns era. We need big bodies that can't be out muscled down low and I think Burns can bring that. Probably not next year, but the year after.

Grant will be evaluated and I think he will be given a clear defined analysis that will ultimately tell him to come back. He needs to work on his 3 point shooting and become more confident shooting it. He needs to be able to guard multiple positions with his size (work on his quickness). He is small for his position but his 6-11 wingspan makes up for some of that. I think he can get drafted in very late first round, but he could end up in the NBA G League. IMHO, he should take the evaluation and finish his career at UT and not play in the G League, enjoy his senior season! You only get one opportunity to play and finish a college career with the VOLS, the opportunity for the NBA will be there next year and his draft stock could rise with some improvements to his game. Either way, I hope for the best for him, he is the type of player that you want your kids to idolize as a sports star.

Now, if he is evaluated as a top 15 pick, he needs to go and enjoy his millions!

Until last night, I felt the only guy with real nba potential was bone. Now I question how the NBA sees our team in terms of pro potential. I think both return because they won't get an acceptable draft grade. Having said that, I hope Barnes has made the right calls with his recruiting. Fulkerson, Kent, JJ, Walker, Burns all need to take a big step forward. If they don't, we might waste Bone and grants senior seasons. This is why I don't like taking guys that are going to take 2-3 years to develop.

I truly believe that was Grant's last game as a Vol. He is literally on all of the new mock drafts going in the first round which is a guaranteed 2 year contract, with the 3rd year being a team-option!

The 30th pick is guaranteed to get $1,162,100 for their first year and $1,379,300 for their 2nd year. Who in their right mind would turn down a guaranteed 2.5 million dollars. The 20th pick (Where he's hovering on most mocks) is 3.38 million. He will have already have his degree. If he wanted his Master's Degree he could always come back after his NBA career is done. No matter if he goes or comes back he will stay a late first rounder. Coming back will not make him a lottery pick. Yeah he might improve, but he'll be another year older and NBA teams would rather get younger players.

Sad. Almost every mock draft has Admiral and Grant being drafted. But why trust people who do these for a living rather than our fans. Admiral is a classic 3 & D type of player in the NBA. Grant will find a spot to play. He's the perfect Greg Popovich type of player and the Spurs will be drafting in the 20's.

Crazy how many people know so little about professional basketball

This is why I usually stay out of conversations like this. There's always a handful of players that I'm blown away never end in the NBA and on the flip side, there's usually a few that end up as lottery picks that I didn't think were all that good.

Don't know much about mock drafts and who puts them together. Regardless it will come down to the draft itself. Really hope all 4 get drafted if they all decide to depart.

Grant Williams is a great college player. If he leaves, it will be to go make his money in Europe. Gonna be tough to stick with an NBA team with his size and skill set.

Wrong. He'll go first round and get a guaranteed 2-year contract. I remember people doubting Richardson in the NBA as well, and now look at what he's doing.

I think he leaves, but I could see him staying to try to improve on his outside shot. I think he will need it if he plans to stick in the NBA. Selfishly I hope he stays and decides to do just that.

It would really for everyone concerned if we got all 4...Bone, KA, Grant, Admiral....drafted. I'd love to see it. Great for them and great for recruiting.

Josh Richardson's Pro Potential

Read through this and you'll see how good of "nba scouters" VN is. It's worth a good laugh. Mirrors what people are saying about Grant to a T! Get ready for a good laugh lol.

"The NBA wants its role players to be specialists. Well-rounded players who aren't exceptional in any one area are typically overlooked. Richardson might stick as a defensive specialist, but there's just as good of a chance that he ends up in Europe."

"I really don't see Josh as NBA material. Maybe European league at best. He is not consistent with his offense. Very good defender but it takes more than that at the next level." Lmao he's just averaging 17 ppg in the league right now.

"Bad game offensively for JR today. However, he still brings a lot of other value with his defense. He pressed a little today and should have dished off on that last shot to a wide open Punter. I think he can be an NBA player but will probably have to work his way up from D league of Europe"

"He'll probably be a free agent. So many foreigners in the draft now that it knocks most of the seniors out except for maybe the top 10."

I think he graduates this spring or summer based on classes I've had with him. For that reason, I think he takes his talents to the NBA, I mean, the kid's a projected 1st rounder, you cant leave that money on the table and risk injury. I wouldnt have any hard feelings and wish him all the best. He's given his all for this program.
