Texas win.
aTm win and even at 9-3, in the eyes of the committee they could jump us in the polls and leave us out of the CFP.
Their only bad loss was USCe.
Texas beating A&M gives Texas that ranked win, unless A&M loses so badly that they drop from the top 25. If they have that ranked win, a loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship may not drop Texas below TN. In the case of Texas having a victory over still ranked A&M, we would need Georgia to lose the conference championship and hopefully drop Georgia behind TN.Much as I hate it, the best scenario for us is if Texas rolls down the lane knocking over pins. Knock over A&M, and they're not threat. Then knock over UGa, and they could drop a spot below us.
Ain't much we can do to get Texas out of the picture, but they can help a lot to maybe sweep the others away.
And: screw Texas!
Go Vols!
I guess you are forgetting A&M just lost to a horrible Auburn team lol. We have SMU, Indiana, and Clemson behind us. So not only are you saying that A&M would jump us but those other teams would jump us too. That’s not happening. The only way one of the ACC schools are jumping us is if they win the conference, which defaults them to the top 4 and wouldn’t knock us down because the lose would be ranked behind us too. An Indiana win over vaunted Purdoodoo is not going to do anything for them. If anything, Indiana might be the odd man out because they don’t have a quality win on the résumé. I could see all three of the ACC teams making it but 2 of them would be behind us. Even with Alabama dropping, that’s a better win than any of the other teams around us other than Georgia of course. If we win this weekend we are only moving up, not down. There is no scenario in which we win and get left out at this point.Texas win.

But you also put us in trouble of being left out. See the forest not the trees.I said A&M because UGA would have a better chance of beating them in the SECCG, and I'd prefer to eliminate the possibility of Tennessee having to travl to Athens in the first round. No other potential playoff matchup concerns me.
You are "hoping" a loss Saturday to A&M drops Texas below us......would rather not hope. A Georgia loss either Saturday or in the CG and they go below us and we hostAn A&M win over TX, combined with GA beating A&M in the SECCG, I believe gives us the best chance to host a first round game. Plus, I'd prefer not to have to play our first round game back at GA.
Since Georgia is only 1 spots above us, why not Texas win Saturday and then in the CG, Georgia would drop below us and we would host. Easiest and most simple path to hosting. A 3 loss Georgia will not host a playoff gameRemote possibility with a Texas loss that they drop below us. It would set up the SEC title game as a probable elimination game for the other two. Of course it’s also possible texas just moves down into Georgia’s spot if they lose and Tennessee is still the first team out of a home seed in playoffs. Really need Notre Dame, Ohio state, or Penn state to lose imo to guarantee us moving up into a home playoff game.
The five seed and the sixth seed may be the two best positions to be in this format. Someone is going to get a team like Arizona St at home and then Boise or Miami in a bowl game. Oregon or Ohio State with the 1 seed may get rewarded with Tennessee, Texas or Georgia in their first game.
With us at 8 ahead of Indiana and ACC #2 I just don’t see how us getting jumped by A&M (a major stretch) would knock us out.But you also put us in trouble of being left out. See the forest not the trees.
A&M wins and low probability they drop Texas below us but A&M would move up. Then they beat Georgia and they are in Texas is in and we are at the mercy of the committee how they view a championship game loser....
Texas needs to win Saturday and then the SEC CG, that puts Georgia below us
