Heup should hold a scrimmage and let Vols fans kick 35 yard field goals in a game situation. Anybody who makes at least 3 out of 4 gets a license to complain online.

This is the issue, he's 13-20 beyond 40 yards in his career. That would get you cut in the NFL.

Hawaii's kicker hasn't missed an xp or FG all season. He's 10/10 from 40 to 50+. Oklahoma's kicker is 15/16 from 40 to 50+ this year. He killed us. There are 15 kickers in the SEC with more than 10 fg attempts this year and Gilbert is 12th out of 15 in make percentage.

I don’t think our coaches should be in the business of cutting sophomores coming off a tough season. Gilbert is coming off a tough season, but he might just turn it around next year. Past performance does not guarantee future results. I do think having more competition over the offseason will benefit Gilbert next year. Despite all the talk, college football isnt the nfl just yet.

If it's a coin flip when it's a 40+ yard fg, that's just not acceptable. People get recruited over constantly. You know what UT coach does it all the time? Rick Barnes.

Depends on where he gets his percentages from...His longer ones isn't very good. Look at the post above. Numbers don't lie.

I think his is fair too.

I hope MG improves because in this league you will be in game winning situations from 40 plus.

Teams are too even at the top.

I’m hoping that he’s just been in a rut since uga and can turn the page next year. But if he misses a game winner next year, I’m out on him. Big opportunity next year with 5 home sec games. Cant be blowin it.

We see a lot of younger players moved out for others in his time here. He is a master of encouraging guys to move on and finding better replacements. You just have to do that to be competitive.

These have to be his family members or friends defending him in here. His position has plan black and white metrics attached to it, and he sucks if it’s anything beyond what is considered a layup.

66% from 40+ is going to lose a big game at some point.

Or two. So let's look at the numbers from the NCAA:

- Max is #83 in total FG percentage at 76.5%. Long of 53.
- 3/3 at 20-29.
- 4/5 (#55) at 30-39.
- 4/6 (#45) at 40-49.
- 2/3 (#18) at 50+.

So he's 6/9 at 40+. That sounds okay, until you consider that those 40+ attempts can be the difference between a tie; a win; or a loss. As we have seen at least twice this season.

It is what it is. He's not the biggest weakness on this team by a long shot.

Gilbert missed when the game was on the line, he must go. He’s way down the list in kicker stats. Bust out NIL $$’s for a top 15 kicker.
