Player tweets regarding Hurd situation

I'm sure some players don't like the rules. Some of these players were probably pampered in high school and in their local communities.

Football aside, college is hard. One must be disciplined, organized and focused to succeed. It is why a large percentage of students that start the process don't finish the process. Pile on that the demands of playing football.

The best teachers I had and the best mangers that I have had in my career where those that pushed me hard . Did I like it? No. But later in life I understood how it had made me better prepared to handle anything life put in front of me.
That's not it at all. Do you think we have looked disciplined. Do you not see the regression

You are either incredibly butt hurt or just stupid. You go on a rant about Jalen being the second leading rusher ( which he is not) then come back with stupid posts like this.

Sorry....I did confess my mistake...but truth be told...all Hurd had to do was get 900 yards this year and he would've been the ALL TIME LEADING RUSHER....

But, it's just the dern truth about JUMPER...

YOU guys ***** and moan about it being a wasted down handing the ball to Hurd in complete ignorance of what's happening on the field....

But you FAIL to notice JUMPER'S continual missed tackles and mistakes on DEFENSE that COST US more than a few yards....but contribute to our poor defensive play and a lack of ability to even tackle a QB on the perimeter....

Do you even watch the replays of the games?? Do yourself a favor and count the number of times Jumper gets out of position, misses tackles, etc....etc....

Yes, he has made some tackles, but most of them have been 7-15 yds down the field.....

Please--get a reality check and watch the replay of the USCe game....Jumper is #52....watch him get dominated and destroyed on a regular basis....

And I hate that HURD quit, is leaving, or was FORCED out.....I don't applaud him for it.....and wish HE would've grown up and been a man.....But the KID AT LEAST HAS SEC CALIBER TALENT......

Jumper is like Nick Reveiz....he's likable, but belongs on a I-AA or FCS team like UTC....and NOT at UT....

Same thing could probably be said about Bates....and others on this team...

Each of those who departed seemed to suffer from playing time, lack of production, or violations. I can't think of any that said or insinuated that they were leaving because of the staff.

If anything, look at the product on the field. The staff has done everything to find those who will produce and put them out there. Think Jennings. Outside of the QB position, please name one spot where the current position was a lock or where someone who excelled on the field when given a chance didn't see more time in following games.

Your comment rings of opinion more than substance
How could they say they were leaving because of the staff. That would be killing your chances with a new school and team. You can't come out and say something bad about your boss unless you want to be fired. I guarantee you when CBJ Is gone there will be players, coaches and longtime former VFL's come out and say what I said. They just can't do it right now.

Lol to even begin to put the SC loss on Jalen Hurd shows how ****ing retarded some of you are.

Well... it is likely he pulled himself out of the game....and as a result Fils-Aime was in the game and caused the fumble with the collision with Dobbs. Word is Dobbs came off the field and gave Hurd the business as a result.

Putting the loss on him may be too much, but if he did pull himself out.... which it's been said that he does this.... then he's part of the blame.

Not saying you right or wrong. But a large number of former players seem to support Butch. They have no obligation to do that. Nor do they face any repercussions by going against him. Why would they do that is what you say is true.

CBJ and his offense staff is the problem. No OL development, wrong rushing scheme for Hurd. CBJ is so stubborn he would force a peyton manning to run read option.

I'm not going defend Butch and the teams performance this year. But I don't get this argument. That's why Peyton would never play for Butch, he doesn't fit his system. Hurd knew the system when he committed and has played in it for two years. Why the surprise?

He quit, plain and simple.

Regardless of how you feel about the current coach. HOW do you speak so negatively and destructively publicly about your alma mater? I will never understand! Zero respect. Zero class. Publicly humiliating the team you played for. Just take "vfl" out of your twitter handle.

Absolutely. Shameful IMHO

How would you feel if you spoke against CBJ then attended homecoming or just wanted to come by the facility. That would in the very least be awkward. Wouldn't it???

The players can't stand CBJ. I can't tell my sources of course and you don't have to believe me. Why do you think so many players have left in the past. Especially Tennessee recruits. He's such a salesman till you get here then it's all degrading you. It's not about playing time. It's about how he goes about giving you PTime. They can see he doesn't know what he's doing but feel trapped. Do I leave and let my team down my family down. Lose my paid schooling.
Why do i find this so easy to believe ? Because i've been suspecting that CBJ is decietful in a salesman like way and have mentioned it in some posts but just like the players you want to be supportive and you try to be. Sooner or later, if he's a B/Ser, it'll catch up to him. GBO!

Plus what? He's going to go play for OSU that runs a zone read run scheme too???? Yea none of that makes since

I don't see that. You could still attend whatever you choose and be pleasant without openly supporting Butch. But most former players seem to commend him on the path of the program in articles and interviews. Seems like a year or two ago was one of larger gatherings of former players for a reunion in many years. I have no clue as to what they think of him. Just looking at outward actions. You can support the University without commenting one way or another on Butch.

Yes that was then. This is now. What are you supposed to say when someone asks you. So how do you like CBJ?

Vols were the sexy, hyped up pick for HUGE things this year mainly due to having what seemed like a strong, maturing team AND a senior QB who tore it up the late part of the season. With Dormady...unproven etc etc...we won't be so sexy. That's fine. I don't care. But...this promising season going so badly now must reflect very badly on Butch.

This Carolina loss is a big time crash. Nobody is gonna give us the benefit of the doubt cuz of injuries....even though in reality it has been a big factor. Things are falling apart...people are pointing fingers becuz that's what losing in big time college football does to a program.

Strange to say at this point but winning will cure all..and if that doesn't happen? Oh my gawd. If we lose to Ky and Vandy....? Or one or the other? You ain't seen nothin yet.

Injuries all around him and him even suffering a few bad ones i think. This is pro material and dumb coaches keep crashing him into the heart of major SEC defenses powers behind a not so well developed line. His situation is different and it's not fair to compare him to AK and JK because they are lighter and if they were to pound into the line the way Hurd has they'd be licking wounds too. They rely on speed and Hurd is a power runner. Hurd's style requires a good blocking line. I truly think more than anything he is rightfully concerned about injury and i've got inside info as to his partying ways and self-centeredness but he's also preparing himself for the future. I don't like it anymore than anyone else on here but I'm not gonna judge another till i walk in his shoes and i'm sure there are others who aren't buying into CBJ's system. They are loyal vols and aren't gonna vocally degrade the program in public for various reasons. It's what you don't think that's being said that's concerning to this program's future.I'll back the orange team till i'm no longer breathing because i'm a tennesean and they are all i've ever known but there's a right way and a wrong way to criticize and a time. CBJ best wake up. This is the SEC and he was fortunate to have the talent this year. Time will tell.

I know several former and current players have played golf with Fulmer, Chavis, and Manning several times. I have also sat in one of the private rooms with Pat Summit while watching the Vols play basketball. Do some players not like CBJ? I am sure they do and that is the way it is with every coach on every team but the vast majority like him and generally play hard for him with the exception of the last few games which has coincided with Hurd's drama.
