PizzaGate

I'm not even sure Wikileaks can be trusted at this point. Lots of rumors that Assange is dead, done in at long last by pizzagate.

Solid.

Hence the "I'm not even sure" part of my post. I hope you're not as obtuse as you make yourself out to be on these threads.

I don't have much faith in the FBI either. They have had their share of pedophiles as well.

But you do trust a Russian intelligence operation as the only credible source, evidently. I'm starting to see how your mind works, and I'll have no more of what you're selling.

That's a dumb reason. Like I said earlier pedophiles have been in all areas of society.

Churches - yep
Teachers - yep
Doctors - yep
Coaches - yep
Lawyers - yep

Why would you think the government or police would be any different?

This issue of what news sources can still be trusted is interesting. It seems fairly apparent to me that many (perhaps even most) people no longer trust what have historically been considered trusted news sources. This latest election made that fact even more pronounced. Quite frankly, I think that scares the crap out of these news sources, as well as the ones who use these news sources to push their agendas. So what do they do? They double down and start pushing this "fake news" narrative, which of course even further erodes whatever trust might remain. It's an interesting situation, and one I'll be watching with great interest. Will will ever see actual journalistic news again? As it stands now, any true journalism rests in the hands whoever out there has the guts to pursue it on their own. Interesting times.

:eek:lol:

Fake news, anyone?

So you think all 17 of our intelligence services are lying to us?

And now that Trump is going to be president, who does that venerable liberal transparency advocacy group known as "Wikileaks" go after?

Trump?

Nope, Angela Merkel.

How anyone can still believe Wikileaks is anything but a Russian op is beyond my comprehension. I can't take my mind to that dark, depressing, cynical corner.

Yes, and many times when an institution contains important members who are pedophiles, the crimes go on for a long time because the institution doesn't want to uncover the problem due to the embarrassment and shame. The FBI is not exempt from that likelihood. When it comes to breaking this case wide open, they may be a tad reluctant because they know some of their own brass could be implicated.

Only two of the 17 intelligence agencies weighed in (DNI and DHS) on the hacks. And these agencies were fairly ambiguous in their proclamations. They merely stated that it COULD be Russian hackers due to the motives and methods. They did not conclude that it was actually Russia.

He's going to be done with you, be careful throwing facts at him.

I find it odd and depressing that with 17 intelligence agencies none of them could definitely prove the Russians were behind the hacks.

And BTW why the hell do we need 17 intelligence agencies?

I really don't understand the "nothing to see here" tact that skeptics of pizzagate are taking.

There are valid concerns. This is disturbing stuff.

It's not really the "fault" of the MSM. It's that people are gullible and willing to believe nonsense because it explains complicated things in bite sized nuggets they don't have to think about.

Liberal democracy's "contract" with us, if you will, was stay educated and you can have me.

We haven't done that, and I suspect thinks are only going to get worse, especially if this guy's privatization advocate for EDSEC makes good on her billionaire dreams.

I don't know how we recover an educated populace today, given how massive it is and how many hardships it must overcome in learning to appropriately negotiate information on social media.

As I said, I'm not confident. The thing about liberal democracy is that - although very messy - it works better than any other - that is, until it falls deep in a hole. At that point, the odds of recovering it and of recovering the culture and society at large through liberal democracy's own values and platforms are very slim.

educated populace isn't just book smarts. thats a huge fallacy. know the candidates, know the issues. plenty of over educated people who don't have the first clue what they are voting for. with all the safe spaces and counseling for chalk "Trump 2016" I really doubt our higher education system is really providing fair education.

It's the seriousness of the charge that matters, eh?

Seriousness of the charge alone? No. Seriousness of the charge in combination with a little bit of solid evidence, a ton of flimsy evidence, a ton of interesting coincidences, and a ton of pushback from mainstream media? That is a different story.
