Phrases/Cliches that annoy you.

Brilliant! Met people from England and they said it constantly. Even when I told them something mundane or trivial.

If I'm being honest with you....

Let's be honest here....



All uses of honest in this context always makes me wonder if the person is lying or lies most of the time and are deciding to be honest just in this instance.

I use "to be honest" sometimes but the reason is I know I'm about to say something will probably hurt the person's feelings. I'm trying to be let them know ahead of the time that I'm being honest instead of hiding the truth which is the easy way out. I think it's just a "I feel bad for what I'm about to say, but it needs to be said" thing. I now usually say "to be blunt" instead though.
 
Calling myself out but I use "As I have said" or "Like I was saying". Or some variant of those. Even if it's on the same topic/post. I do it irl too. I have no idea where I picked up that expression. But it has latched on hard. I am bad about mimicking but I dont know who uses this one.
