Phil is interested...

Hahaha. This thread was hilarious. The "he loves UT" argument is legendary. You do not qualify for jobs based on "love".

I wouldn't switch teams, but I won't donate and won't attend any games if he is made AD as a form of boycott.

I don't hate him and appreciate what he did while he was here, but I just want him to $@#%ing fade away at this point and enjoy his damn retirement.

If he laid low for about 5 years, all would be forgiven and I think most fans that wanted him gone would welcome him back as an ambassador for the University. However, with him hanging around, he's directly contributing to the divisiness.

His arrogance and failure to take responsibility for driving the football program into the ground is astonishing. He is, and will be, a divisive factor for a long time unless he takes your advice and disappears for about 5 years and comes back and keeps his trap shut.

When the entire team plays like chit, as you so aptly put it, it's time to look at who's supposedly in charge.

Our talent was just outplayed those times. A athlete can only play to his, or her abilities. A coach is responsible to develop, yes, but still the same applies

In that case, why was Phil's recruiting below par? An amazing coach such as he should have no trouble recruiting just as good as, if not better than, the rest of the SEC.

The SOB couldn't make a hire to get any of our tems as they should be. So he could raise money. Success does too. Want him gone now your going to take up for him. ****H

I guess you're pretty impressed with Phil's hiring prowess.

Its a gamble. Players were busts. Some got in trouble and some couldn't compete at that level obviously. Unless you want to bring up star ratings, which we know is not 100% accurate

I think he meant PF has a passion/love which creates drive

Odd that he's admitted to losing his drive as the head coach of UT. I'm sure that would never happen if we gave him mote responsibility after he screwed up his last job. Rewarding failure always brings about hadr work.

Again, if Phil is so magnificent he should be better at evaluating talent than that. How then, was most of the team busts, as you say?

I guess Phil couldn't find a university that was committed to winning so he said, "what the hell" and wants to come back to UT.

No, the other way around, no university that wants to win wants Phil that's why he doesn't have a job other than blabbering for CBS, which says it all. If he was so great then why aren't universities breaking down the door to hire him?????????????????? That's because they know what he did to UT football. Who wants to hire the poster boy for Krispy Kreme to run their football program that couldn't run a lap if his life depended on it?

Love, drive, and similar emotions have no bearing on the day to day tasks of running a major athletic department. Why anyone would want Phil is mind boggling.

The guy was fired for being ineffective as a coach. Now you want him in a larger roll?

LOL@ you knowing where you stand, but in all seriousness, its not my style. If I did, it was a reply to something directed at me. Us debating as fans is fine. But ppl here get mad and try to break others down when one don't see eye to eye with them. It's really sad some so called fans bash Fulmer. Out of over 200 games he won 152. Back to back titles. A NC. And when some of his staff jump ship and he stays and tries to put it back together, all he has done is forgotten and he is labeled a has been, who ain't worthy of nothing. He is human, he made a mistake on a hire, but it was not that alone. IIRC our players played like chit that yr. too. Everyone started questioning him when the QB controversy started. He was stuck in panic mode with everything going on. Then when UF had Leak and Tebow it mad Meyer look like a genius, but without them look what happened. Its the players too, not just the coach that makes a difference. My point is its not always going to go as expected no matter who you are, bad things are bound to happen. Thats why the games are played. To find out. With the right players PF would have been fine. Dont say he couldn't recruit, or develop players anymore. Its always a gamble and some dont live up to the hype

Fulmer needed luck to get one SEC Championship out of four years from Peyton Manning. The right players weren't going to come.

I, for one, agree with the OP. A lot of idiots on this board with oversized egos and opinions who have never in their life played college athletics.

Ask ANYONE who has wore the Power T who they would choose. I'll take their opinions over the haters on this board any day.

Hide behind your keyboards and beer bellies Fulmer-haters.

Read the article. I'm not sure how anyone can get upset at anything Phil said in that article. The process is exactly where I said it was this morning. Phil is not sure he is interested; he will not be annoited as AD.

The same way Meyer went from winning with Tebow to how his team was last yr. Im sure it was not expected

I'll only listen to the opinions of those big-time college athletes who can demonstrate that they earned an athletic SCHOLARship. Keep your brain between the chalk, son.
