Phil is interested...

His firing was for a reason. The football program went from being one of the premier programs in the SEC to just another programs struggling to finish at .500. Events have spiralled downward for ut men's athletic programs to the point where we are today. It is time for a fresh start. Fulmer is not the guy, and I hope the administration is not seriously considering hiring him.

Ill use UF again. How they beat bama in SECCG then turned around and lost the next. Did Meyer not develop his players? Its the fact they got outplayed. You cant do it every time man

Yeah, Florida's 2009 season was a real Fulmer-esque letdown. They lost one whole game, as opposed to 4 or 6 or 7.

Didn’t I read on GoVolsXtra or somewhere that an big donor spoke anonymously that they would be searching outside the UT family?

Yeah. And that gives me a feeling of betrayal. Its like spitting in the programs face, saying our people aren't good enough, ya know? How can they say that from the jump? Someone has to be considered from UT. Bet Cheek has a UF guy in mind, or a person with no athletics knowledge at all

Are you serious? Saban developed a much better team from 2008 to 2009. That's why the Gators lost.

And "you can't do it every time" doesn't work for a decade of failure. I can't have sex with a super model every night. I can't bench press 800 pounds every time.

Well according to you, you better " develop " your player skills and hit the gym harder, huh?

You got it. Meyer winning an NC and following it up with a one loss season is exactly the same as Phil going ten years without winning anything.

Point was that they were the same teams(almost), different outcomes. It was the better players that day. Not the development, or recruiting problem. UT cant always recruit the best. A kid will go where he wants. It could be based on coaches, location, what the area offers, PT, etc

And a guy Phil employed at the second highest level of football coaching for seven years was the problem in 2005. The man is a managerial genius.

he certainly made a bad hire and cost himself a job

I guess Saban is a really lucky dude since all this winning and losing stuff is so out of his hands.

Yeah it had nothing to do with the talent brought in by the University at that time. Give us Tebow, or Ingram and we win games. It was not the coaches alone is all Im saying

He made several bad hires that cost him his job. Had he had a real staff in place he could have been dominant once Spurrier left, assuring himself many more years.

That's it. I'm sure if we had an NFL leading rusher type player we'd be unstoppable running the ball. Oh. Maybe not.

Not saying he cant coach. Its what he had to coach. developing players is not the thing. Thats like saying Saban can take us and make us Heisman candidates. Kids already are gifted, or not. Some more than others. Yes u can develop, but as I said before. Some athletes outplay others, no matter who, what, when, or where.

Give the 6 million back and he can throw his hat into the ring. Show how much he loves his university....greedy man I say.

Weird how Crompton was crap the entire time Phil was here and then played well enough to get drafted under a new coach. Chris Scott too. How is that even possible?

No surprise here. He's been sniffing around for a while now. I'm just tired of Phil, he might actually have the school's best interest in mind, nah scratch that, he'd cann Dooley and name himself coach again. Then send one monumental up yours to Hamilton in the process. Then Phil awoke from his dream.

Who's in charge of procuring talent?

.

Players go where they want. Can't blame Phil. Get with the program.

I mean obviously the better players dont want to come to UT. You can take a good player and make him better, yes, but you got to get them here 1st. You think PF wasn't going after the better guys? He cant MAKE them come here. Like when AUB beat us out with Cadillac Williams and R Brown, or J Clausen. They went where they wanted. Thats the winning edge, getting better players. You can only make crappy players so good. Guess PF should have paid them

Well, might as well shut the program down. We'll never win anything, good players avoid us like the plague. It was good while it lasted folks.

Oh good, another one of the "Tennessee can't compete with Auburn for recruits because of Alabama's amazing in state talent" guys.

You got to bring n the talent first. Duurrr. Its not he couldn't develop, or recognize, it was getting them here. Your not gonna win a horse race on a donkey. NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU WORK IT

Yeah, totally out of Phil's hands. He didn't control his own fate. Right. He stopped evaluating and recruiting at the level necessary to be successful.
