Phil is interested...

Weird how Crompton was crap the entire time Phil was here and then played well enough to get drafted under a new coach. Chris Scott too. How is that even possible?

He did fine in SECCG too. Ainge was up and down too. Its a coincidence. Will happen with Bray too

History will show that Fulmer was a great coach with an outstanding record-notwithstanding the negativity and emotion caused by the meltdown in his last few years. BUT, he is not the one for this job. Even if he was fully qualified the appointment would be too divisive for him to be successful. A real pro is needed and not just a job for Phil. JMO

You're right, coaches have nothing to do with how well players develop. What the hell are we paying them for, might as well let the kids streetball it.

Yeah, totally out of Phil's hands. He didn't control his own fate. Right. He stopped evaluating and recruiting at the level necessary to be successful.

Yeah he cant make the guy he wants, or knows is better come. You cant make crap players better than the already best players. You do what you can with what you got. How hard is that to understand? If you were a recruit, where would u go? Where you want, right. If u went to bama and we had a Ingrim here he would more than likely already better giving us the edge with talent

Why dont you stop. Your already going to be laughed at in the incoming months

Your taking it wrong. You think Saban is gonna take the worse players when recruiting just cause he has a knack for developing players? NO he already has the good ones

I love Fulmer but if he truly loves his university, he will understand that he has no business being considered for AD. He should just enjoy being a huge part of Tennessee history. I really hope this is an outside hire.

Go Big Orange!!!

It's just pure luck after all.
Rex and jmoore could just copy and paste the playbook. Break down the coaching position into shifts to all the VN gurus. They will work for top ramen and skittles.

NO, he recruits the good ones, just like fantastic Phil should have been doing. The way you make it sound, we shouldn't even have coaches go out and recruit, just let the kids go wherever.

Hell, I'd do it for the ramen alone.

Yeah it had nothing to do with the talent brought in by the University at that time. Give us Tebow, or Ingram and we win games. It was not the coaches alone is all Im saying

Who's in charge of procuring talent?

Not saying he cant coach. Its what he had to coach. developing players is not the thing. Thats like saying Saban can take us and make us Heisman candidates. Kids already are gifted, or not. Some more than others. Yes u can develop, but as I said before. Some athletes outplay others, no matter who, what, when, or where.

He was. THEY didn't want to here, as I stated about Cadillac Williams and R Brown and J Clausen as examples

Phil was washed up. He couldn't cut it recruiting any more. No more excuses. I'm tired of it.

THEY didn't want to be here because Phil lost his recruiting touch. Why do you think they go to Alabama? Because Saban is an excellent recruiter.

Yeah guess the RB changed their minds before NSD cause PF didnt have the magic words because were interested then changed their minds

So it's not the coaching staff's fault for having piss poor classes for multiple years? It's just bad luck? Am I reading this right?

If we want someone who truly loves Tennessee, then we hire Fulmer as the new AD.

If we can hire someone that left for our enemy as AD(Dickey), then we surely can hire someone that loves the university as much as Coach Fulmer does.

Spock would vote for Fulmer too. Seems logical.
That's a NEGATIVE, Ghost Rider...the Pumpkin is full!

I mean obviously the better players dont want to come to UT. You can take a good player and make him better, yes, but you got to get them here 1st. You think PF wasn't going after the better guys? He cant MAKE them come here. Like when AUB beat us out with Cadillac Williams and R Brown, or J Clausen. They went where they wanted. Thats the winning edge, getting better players. You can only make crappy players so good. Guess PF should have paid them

Cadillac was committed to UT for a while but Fulmer couldn't hold him

the problem comes when you aren't getting the recruits anymore and can't coach the talent you do get up to their level. Bad combo in the SEC

Why do you think Dabo at Clemson recruits so well? It isn't NT's obviously. It isn't because Clemson is such a hip place to be for youngins or that their campus and facilities are better than anyone else's. It's because Clemson's staff are exceptional recruiters.

I guess if we went with the OP's logic, the university's first move is to make a profile on E-Harmony to find the man for the job.
