He got the back up reps after Worley was named the starter and a RS was planned for Dobbs. He got them until Worley's season ended. It then took Dobbs all of one week of competition to pass him.

He's a good guy with very good physical talent... but it never translated to the field when he got his chances. He seemed to struggle with game pressure while Dobbs thrives in it.
I agree that Dobbs is much better with THIS team. Another team, like Arkansas, that can block and has a power running game, who knows?

He made appearances while running out the clock in most of the games. The fact is that he might have been a decent quarterback behind a decent o-line this year. However, I think that Dobbs had more poise and confidence, and definitely more ability to run for his life.
The opposing Ala. and Ga. defenses manhandled our line, took away the run, and just loaded up and bull rushed Peterman , and he had zero time to get rid of the ball. They couldn't afford that luxury against Dobbs and that opened everything up. I seem to remember reading that Peterman was hit on 8 of 11 drop back attempts within less than 2-1/2 seconds against Georgia.

I agree that given our o-line, Peterman was not the answer. It took Worley several games to adapt and play well, and at times he struggled. Peterman never had that much action to adapt to having to run for his life., and then look for a receiver. The moral of the story is when you have poor o-line play, you don't need a pocket passer with little experience.

He was 4 of 9 for 20 yds in relief of Worley vs Georgia. By contrast, Worley, who is less mobile than Peterman, was 23-35, 264 yds and 3tds vs the same defense on the same day. Not trying to knock Nathan, just pointing out the facts....it is what it is.

I'm gonna go ahead and throw it out there, if he's leaving then I'm making the first argument that whoever is "redshirting" should be starter and we'll win the NC when redshirter does start! Just because somebody is gonna say it.

Well, he enrolled in grad school at UT this semester, so he'll have to change his field of study to something UT doesn't offer to transfer with eligibility. He's getting a free ride here, so it doesn't seem likely.

I wish him well. Poor kid pulled the "short stick" every time here. Hope he finds success somewhere...he deserves it, if you ask me.

Pulled the short stick??Dude this kid had his chance a couple of times.Winners seize the moment, lets not sugar coat it.You either got it or u dont or u transfer. Not every player is gonna work out, thats just life in general,s*it happens.I think most of us wished he would do well, but kid just isnt an Sec qb.Best of luck...Next

the poster named Robert Mueller knows this stuff - if it was true he would have posted it by now

So did the OP return after 2 out of the first 3 posts?
Mention what players and if it was directly to his ears?

It would make sense for NP and could be true but like others, need a little more to go on.

Not even close. Crompton had at least a hell of a run at one point, got drafted, and at least kills it in the CFL. Peterman won't even be a FA.

I hate kiffin, but he knows how to make his offense go to his QBs strengths, Fulmer never helped Crompton out in that regard.

Am I to take it that you believe Crompton lived up to his 5* potential?

QB's strength under LK must have been our running since we ran the ball 477 times vice JC 384 attempts. JC best SEC game was the 09 UGA game, a game where the defense won the day by not allowing the Dawgs into the red zone.

When I compare JC's games against UCLA, UF, Auburn in 08/09 I see little differences. More INT than TD.

Crompton in 2009..... Per UTSports.com....

2009 - Games/ Starts - 13/12 ... Finished the season with 2,800 yards to rank third this season in SEC and eighth all-time at Tennessee ... His 224 completions also were ninth-best figure in season history ... Finished second in conference with 27 touchdown passes against only 13 interceptions ... Opened his senior campaign by throwing for five scores on 21-of-28 passing against Western Kentucky ... Turned corner this season in late stages against Auburn, finishing that contest with 259 yards and two TDs ... First career 300-yard passing game followed next week in win over Georgia ... Completed 20-of-27 for 310 yards and four touchdowns in 45-19 win over Bulldogs ... Added 265 passing yards and TD against Alabama's vaunted defense ... Set Tennessee mark for passing yards in half by totaling 305 yards to go with four touchdowns in 56-28 Homecoming victory over Memphis ... Excelled this year in two-minute offense, including 55-yard drive in 43 seconds to close first half with lone touchdown of season against Tigers ... Finished with career-high 331 passing yards against Memphis ... Went 142 consecutive pass attempts without throwing interception, finishing one attempt short of breaking Tennessee record for that category ... Entered senior season with 1,387 career passing yards and nine touchdowns ... Participated in Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Game.

Where exactly do you see similarities again?

Again unfilled potential. His 5 TDs performances against the likes of Memphis & WKU hardly make up for subpar play in SEC play or against UCLA.

UCLA
08: 19-41-1-189-0
09: 13-26-3- 93-0

UF
08: 16-28-1-162-0
09: 11-19-2- 93-0

AU
08: 8-23-0-67-0
09: 19-32-0-259-2

If you're incline to believe he played up to his potential then so be it but to me as a 5* he was a huge disappoint.

Yeah, he threw 20 passes this year, and got to play about 3 quarters. I think 3 series against Georgia, and 2 against Alabama., with only one 3 and out. The rest of the games , he was allowed to run out the clock.

He looked horrible in the UGA game!!! If Worley didn't get hurt, we win that game!
