Peterman

Again unfilled potential. His 5 TDs performances against the likes of Memphis & WKU hardly make up for subpar play in SEC play or against UCLA.

UCLA
08: 19-41-1-189-0
09: 13-26-3- 93-0

UF
08: 16-28-1-162-0
09: 11-19-2- 93-0

AU
08: 8-23-0-67-0
09: 19-32-0-259-2

If you're incline to believe he played up to his potential then so be it but to me as a 5* he was a huge disappoint.

Of course he didn't play up to his 5 star billing, apologize if I didn't make that clear. Agree with you there. I was more addressing the comparison between his play and Nathan's.

In year 4 of his career, Crompton proved to be a vastly improved and effective SEC qb. As poorly as he played early in his career, his numbers were still substantially better than Nathan's and, despite some very poor performances, particularly vs UCLA in '08, Crompton never posted a performance as poor as Peterman's start vs Florida. He also managed to win the job his junior and senior years and not be passed over by a younger player and recruited over by 3 freshmen qbs, which seems to be the case here.

This is not intended to be seen as taking shots at Peterman, but rather debating the careers/performances of previous UT QBs in light of the appearance that he is reported to be transferring.

He was 4 of 9 for 20 yds in relief of Worley vs Georgia. By contrast, Worley, who is less mobile than Peterman, was 23-35, 264 yds and 3tds vs the same defense on the same day. Not trying to knock Nathan, just pointing out the facts....it is what it is.

Ya & 1972Grad also tried to say that NP only had 1 three & out against uga & bama. I seem to remember a couple in the uga game alone. Anyway, NP is a good kid but bad QB. Not everyone has " It ".

Worley had way more experience and due to that, was able to more or less get accustomed to having little time to throw.

He looked horrible in the UGA game!!! If Worley didn't get hurt, we win that game!
So, if we scored sometime during the 3 series that Peterman was in, Georgia would not have answered, and would have played exactly the same? You know that for certain, and the game would have played out the same?

Crompton in 2009..... Per UTSports.com....

2009 - Games/ Starts - 13/12 ... Finished the season with 2,800 yards to rank third this season in SEC and eighth all-time at Tennessee ... His 224 completions also were ninth-best figure in season history ... Finished second in conference with 27 touchdown passes against only 13 interceptions ... Opened his senior campaign by throwing for five scores on 21-of-28 passing against Western Kentucky ... Turned corner this season in late stages against Auburn, finishing that contest with 259 yards and two TDs ... First career 300-yard passing game followed next week in win over Georgia ... Completed 20-of-27 for 310 yards and four touchdowns in 45-19 win over Bulldogs ... Added 265 passing yards and TD against Alabama's vaunted defense ... Set Tennessee mark for passing yards in half by totaling 305 yards to go with four touchdowns in 56-28 Homecoming victory over Memphis ... Excelled this year in two-minute offense, including 55-yard drive in 43 seconds to close first half with lone touchdown of season against Tigers ... Finished with career-high 331 passing yards against Memphis ... Went 142 consecutive pass attempts without throwing interception, finishing one attempt short of breaking Tennessee record for that category ... Entered senior season with 1,387 career passing yards and nine touchdowns ... Participated in Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Game.

Where exactly do you see similarities again?

You're on a roll today KB! I've given you a like on everyone of your posts in this thread.

Peterman did better than 90% of us a-holes on VN

He got to play for UT

90%? I believe you grossly overestimate our abilities. The only O&W I'll be wearing is what the UT bookstore offers. The mere fact that NP is a UT alum says a lot about him as a person.

Guess we'll just disagree 72. I just saw panic in Peterman whenever I saw him play....vs Florida, vs Georgia, vs OleMiss in particular. Very few players ever rise to the level of being a qb on an SEC roster...still fewer can actually get on the field, play with poise and have success. God bless the kid whether he transfers or continues on Tennessee's roster.

Obviously I couldn't know that for certain! My bad for not posting IMO! Better? & ya IMO we win that game if Worley doesn't get injured! Even the commentators were talking about it, during the game, so I'm not the only one with that opinion.

You would think 72 grad is his momma the way he takes up for NP with no ground to stand on other than him being a Vol!

So did the OP return after 2 out of the first 3 posts?
Mention what players and if it was directly to his ears?

It would make sense for NP and could be true but like others, need a little more to go on.

Nothing else to say really. This is what was told to me. Someone on here mentioned that he was enrolled in grad school this semester. I have no clue about that.

I have a feeling that this has been known for awhile and even told to our QB recruits. This is why UT went after Sherion late in the game.

Flame away if you want, just passing on info.

Agreed, It is my opinion also.
WTS, good luck to NP here or elsewhere and thanks for choosing UT.

On another note, I was really hoping Nate could have gotten to play a few easy teams to get his confidence up. From all indications, he does well in practice and has been a great teammate.

Your memory is what you want it to be apparently.
Tenn vs Georgia 2014:

Peterman 1st possession: entered game 8:33 third quarter Tenn 41 yard line -- 8 plays 38 yards (2 first downs) time of possession 3:17
ended with fumbled exchange with Lane on Georgia 21 yd line.

Peterman 2nd possession: entered with :15 remaining in 3rd quarter Tenn 9 yard line---5 plays 1 yard (1 first down) time of possession 1:38 ended with punt from 10 yard line

Peterman 3rd possession: entered with 12:45 remaining in 4th Tenn 20 yard line--6 plays 13 yards (1 first down) time of possession 1:36 ended with punt from 33 yard line

I will accept your apology for basically calling me a liar anytime. Thanks in advance.

Not flaming....
It was more about us here on VN.
We are thanking him on his way out and you didn't mention if players said this to you or someone else said "players said this."

Rumors can be the best leads but they diminish with every link added to the chain.

All info is appreciated but the source helps determine the stature.

....and I would think that he did something to you personally since you seem to enjoy bashing a 20 year old with little experience, thrown to the lions, but I guess you were a better qb. One 3 and out versus Alabama and NO 3 and out versus Georgia. Total of 5 series. You must have gone to North Greene or Chuckey Doak with a memory like that. Because you remembered 2 three and outs versus Georgia. They didn't happen.

11 plays for 14 yards. Technically, you are right.
In the spirit of the conversation, I don't think those numbers are helpful lol.

Especially the 5 plays for 1 yard.
