I don't agree with his assessment, but we did brush off:What have you seen that makes you believe this?
Ya because Nathan has played soooo much ball and we know evvvvvery thing about him.
Matt Simms
Simms has never started a game in the NFL. He started and won games for us. He threw for almost 2000 yards and 8 TDs in 18 games.
Peterman has never thrown a TD pass as a vol and has amassed 94 passing yards in 11 games.
As bad as you think Simms was - he was light years ahead of Peterman.
....and I compared his early game action to Dobbs' where???If you are implying that Dobbs got to play against lesser teams starting out to build his confidence, I disagree.
Peterman's first game action was in 2013 against Austin Peay, as a RS freshman.
Dobbs' first game action, in 2013 as a true freshman, was at #1 Alabama. The next week, he starts at #10 Missouri (SEC-E champ), and the following week, he gets his first home start against SEC-W champ and national Runner-Up Auburn. Following that, it was a Vanderbilt team that went on to win 9 games.
I believe NP to be a quality person, but I also believe he got a fair look (especially in spring ball) to win the job. Unfortunately for him, the coaches went with a different player each season.
Who said that Dobbs didn't do better from the start?Very well said. A lot of posters have stated that Peterman was "thrown into the fire" because his first start was at Florida....in his 2nd year as a college qb and after having appeared in the first 3 games of the season. As you've documented, Dobbs actually had it much worse as a true freshman and he performed much better. Facts just are what they are.
Peterman was always a high character, quality young man who represented the program well. If he does transfer, I wish him the best and hope he finds a team that will allow him to close out his career on a positive note. The fact that he has graduated and is enrolled in grad school speaks for his determination and values. He has always been a VFL.
As a QB, I always felt that his one shortcoming was that he was slow in making reads and decisions. That always left him vulnerable to the pass rush. He had all the tools, arm strength, height, speed/ quickness, and leadership. But in the SEC, QBs must find targets and release the ball quickly.

Buying time with your legs cannot be overestimated, especially this year. Look at the 3 points that Worley was able to put on the board against Ole Miss. Of course, Peterman was in for 3 plays in the 4th quarter, so he should take credit for a large part of our inability to only score 3 points.Wasn't directed at you 72. Over the past few months, several posters have defended Peterman by saying he was "thrown into the fire" his first start vs Florida (which I agree he kinda was), as though it was something unique to him only, not fair to a college QB and was something where any expectation of success was unrealistic.
Just pointing out that Dobbs, as a true freshman who not only didn't expect to play when he did but indeed had never even taken a collegiate snap until the second half of the Bama game in 2013, arguably had a much more difficult "christening" to start his career with @Bama, @Missouri, and Auburn.....and he fared a good deal better.
