Unfortunately for UT the game against UF has not been a rivalry since the late 90s/early 2000s.

Its wasn't until we split into divisions. Up to that point UT dominated the all-time series. It's taken UF 20 years of dominance in the series to catch us. So NO... it wasn't a rivalry for us at one time either. But times change. And may change again. My advice... enjoy it while you can. UT is a sleeping giant with the right leadership. THAT is a fact.

1916-1953:
UF 0 UT 10

1954-1991:
UF 7 UT 4

1992-2018:
UF 21 UT 6

13-6 prior to the division split isnt exactly dominating. Also most of those 13 wins against UF came in the early 50's and before.

My definition of “rivalry” has nothing to do with who’s winning and who’s losing.

Florida and South Carolina play every year now as well. That’s not a rivalry either.

Rivalry is more than just appearing on the schedule every year, IMO.

Thanks for proving my point. Between 1915 and 1992 we had DOUBLE this wins at 14-7. Thats dominant, IMO. UF has dominated since and has taken the all-time lead in the series. Did I confuse you with what I wrote before?

I'm in complete agreement. The SEC had expanded to twelve teams with two divisions by the time I started taking football seriously. Florida and Tennessee happened to be the two best teams in the conference at the time, so the game was a big deal. Alabama wasn't much of a threat, but I still hated them far more because I interacted with more Alabama fans on a daily basis. I hated seeing Alabama return to prominence because I knew how those fans would behave. I have no such concern with Florida. Whenever anyone says that this isn't a rivalry anymore, I can't help but wonder how it was ever a rivalry. We rarely played before expansion, and it's been one-sided ever since.

Congratulations on "dominating" UF up until 1992.

Hug those wins from the 1920 and 1930s as closely as you can. ;)

From 1990 to 2005, it was a rivalry. Since then, not so much.

For the majority of older UF fans, the rivalry began in 1990. UT got our attention with that 45-3 beatdown, and Spurrier never forgot it.

Thankfully UGA and LSU were garbage in the 90s, so we only had to worry about you guys in the division and Auburn from the West during the regular season.

this is a stupid conversation. i listened to a MO guy on swain this morning telling us MO is a bigger rival.

right now, for us, everyone is a rival. when you've lost 14 SEC games in two years.......everybody is our rival.

i'm old, so i still consider FL and Bama rivals. and GA. but that's not reality. none of htose teams look at TN today as a "big game". now, there may be some equally oder fans of those teams that enjoy beating us every year, but this game means beans to what they believe they're team goals are year in and year out, right now.

you know what makes a rivalry? hate. or at least a really strong disliking due to having some semblance of respect for the opponents ability to compete with you.

bottom line, we need to do a lot more on our side of any of these games to make them relevant again.

Sneaking in political preferences, I see. Anything about the guy who picks and loses fights with dead people?

I think there are almost 30+ suspicious deaths associated with the Clinton’s and probably many more, not including the Marines in Benghazi
The guy your referring to has done more for this country than any president in my lifetime, like him or not!

His effort and passion should be commended however.
Once again... It has nothing to do with recency. It's just historical fact. Just like the fact that UF had exactly zero SECC until '90. Your efforts to paint a picture of UF being so much better than UT historically is laughable. As I said before... there is no question that UF has had the more recent success. Congrats.

Your reading comprehension is laughable, and your use of hyperbole is noted.

UT held the series lead for a very long time, primarily because you guys completed owned us back before electricity and integration. Since then, UF has more than held its own.

But yeah....1990 and all that....

I wouldn't trade UF's history post-1990 for what you guys accomplished up until that point...not in a million years.
