Not going to rainGive JJ an early option route for the first play of the game. The birds will be playing the run all day, especially in the rain. They'll try and make ANY UT QB beat them. so you let our QBs beat them. Throw on running downs run on throwing downs if we can execute. Our OL has shown some promise recently so we need to do that. Playing a traditional O on a rainy field was what allowed the birds to beat the dawgs.
A few big mistakes by the Georiga QB is what allowed the birds to beat the dawgs... No reason to get cute, IMO. Our OL will dominate their DL. Let them stack the box. Good luck defending our WRs on the perimeter.Give JJ an early option route for the first play of the game. The birds will be playing the run all day, especially in the rain. Been watching Since 1990.... That being the case if you were a player would you be confident that you could win with a guy that has done cost you 2 games against teams you should’ve beat by 3 scores?
You answered your own question. First time college head coach managing an SEC team, cant take personnel risks like he was at Bama or somewhere with loads of talent. Ive always said once another QB showed any inkling of being good JG was going to be sunset..and its happened finally. Chryst was here just to take JG's place after injury. What would the downside of JG transferring be? We would most likely pick someone up in the transfer portal this past spring or start Maurer from the get go...... Neither of those are worse than what actually happened.
He is going to make mistakes and Pruitt does not need to pull him after his 1st int or mistake. He might come out and manage the game well. But we know what to expect from JG.Hopefully, JT is a gamer......and
Gamers live for these type moments and live for the pressure.
He may turn it loose and take it to the house....If the staff does not coddle him too much.
The Advantage is that he is on Home Turf......
Quarterback play can cripple an offense, and kill the spirit of the entire team. Guarantano has done this all year. He is the reason they lost to BYU and Georgia st. He left atleast 4 touchdowns on the field in those two game alone. That's where I disagree. Could we be better at QB...of course we could. I actually think JG played decent in the AL. Game except for a bad pass and the bonehead play. Others also made bonehead plays. Even though it was a petty call Taylor shouldn't have placed himself for a judgement call. That penalty cost us momentum plus gave Bama another score. The illegal formation on the goal line set us back. The holding call where Jennings scored ( it hadn't been mentioned but if you look at the replay he definitely scored). To be fair the call was iffy but it wouldn't JG that threw the flag. The busted coverage that cost us 45 yds. My point is all the blame shouldn't be placed on JG. It's a team sport and always will be and you lose as a team and win as a team. I honestly believe that the team will come out thinking they can win regardless who plays QB. If they don't we got bigger issues than who's playing QB. So I guess the question on here is JG a team player. The players and coaches think so or I guarantee he wouldn't be playing.
Nobody that is mad over all the Ls we've posted with JG as QB would want another L to prove a point, the point has been made, we are 2-5. I can't imagine any circumstance that (in the real world) JG would be our best option. He has not been the "best option" for 5 games, but I'll give it to him Chattanooga and MS were real testaments to his skill and ability to win, the other 5, not so much.So all of you who want JG to be run out on a rail want to lose just for revenge? I think will be a cold day in hell before JG does something like that again. If he is the best option to get a win then he should play. I would hate to lose just to prove a point.
...at least until his first interception?
Really hope it works out well for him (and us). He has a good arm. Key is not forcing it when there is no opening. I suspect we will lean heavy on the running game though and aim to have him toss it down field just enough to keep them from loading the box like they do with JG.
