Per Austin Price - expect Shrout to get the nod tomorrow

Not surprised he's starting. I think the real question is how many series does he get if he struggles early. This is a game we have to win. If he's taking delay of game penalties and turning the ball over early on to the extent some say he does in practice, you gotta pull him. As bad as JG is and as much as I don't want to see him ever take a snap in a Tennessee uniform again, you can't leave Shrout in forever if he's single handedly giving the game to SC.

I am as disappointed with with JG's bonehead play as anybody, but I hope the fans don't boo him if he goes in, as this does not accomplish anything, and will look bad to the many potential recruits that are expected to attend this weekend. I think the fact that he has had 4 OCs and 4 QB coaches in his 4 years there, along with 2 substantially different offensive styles has unfortunately messed up his head so he periodically makes bad decisions. I feel sure the coaches will play the available QB that they believe gives them the best chance to win, so we need to trust their judgement. Before that bad play, he did get them into position to score, so if he is needed, hopefully he can have a good game as he did against Miss State.

Went to UT J-school with Austin. Then we worked together at a station in Knoxville. There is no one I trust more. He has an inside track and a finger on the pulse.

Yesterday on that show called The Drive, Trey what's his name was saying that when Jarrett threw the touchdown to Tyler Boyd and came off the field he went at coach Weinke in a very arrogant way. I believe the term he used was smart ass.

Anybody heard anything about that? First time I had heard anybody mention it.

Byrd. And he smart-assedly hugged the shizz out of him.

I think if Shrout does get the start it will be IN PART because coach does not trust our low level fans to NOT boo JG at our first offensive possession..... May not want to risk the entire squad getting hit with a downer at the get go... So the solution is to send out everybodies always favorite player, the current backup QB... Wish Shrout well.... either way... just hope we don't have to pay the price next year if JG does the grad transfer deal and produces at a high level somewhere and we have to listen to the talking heads feature our fans early and often like in the old days with our mattress exploits.... Don't know why folks want to justify unacceptable fan performance with unacceptable player performance.... loyalty and especially discretion are a terrible things to waste....Trashing a player for anything other than a lapse of character is what it is... You can critique and evaluate and call for replacement without trashing players... Sad that we have folks claiming VFL status that have clearly also displayed their their versatility and their AFL credentials (bet you can decipher the code).... clearly their right to do so...

IMO, both will share time.
Shrout starts more than likely on a short-medium leash.
It will come down to game management and situation.
May see JG in the game if a lead is built for Game Mgt.
Problem is JG doesn't manage the game well usually penalties and sacks and short gains.
He has put together some lengthy time-consuming drives; however, he panics in the red zone and becomes a Square Block to Round Hole type of QB which normally results in FGs. Penalities.

In an overtime situation who do you want in the game becomes the question. JG or JT?

How is JT in wet conditions, I realize a few believe there will be NO rain; however, the Wx experts disagree. JG fumbles when it is dry, I don't think he'd be my go to guy in the wet, I can only hope JT's hands are better in the wet.

IF we get a lead you’re going to protect it w/play calling, not a new QB. This is especially true given the “new” QB would have the initials JG.

A few big mistakes by the Georiga QB is what allowed the birds to beat the dawgs... No reason to get cute, IMO. Our OL will dominate their DL. Let them stack the box. Good luck defending our WRs on the perimeter.

While I think our O-Line is much improved I don’t know that they are going to dominate this line. We struggled w/UFs D-Line and rumor is this groups is at least as good. Let’s hope for solid play and keeping our RBs and QBs as clean as possible.

If that is true he should not have ever seen the field again with all his mistakes already. And I can see that happening, one game I seen Weinke trying to talk to jg and jg was not even listening to him looking the other direction; not listening to him at all. jg probably changed the play and we got a td from it, but it was the blocking and great running ability that got the td. only a 2 or 3 yd pass. jg should never play at ut again.

Good call. We had a tough time opening running lanes. Did not expect our QBs to play so well. Glad they did!
