Paul finebaum show

Based on his past ratings, I dont think that statement can be backed up.

PF is like a bad habit. Nobody admits to listening to him, but I bet if you were in the car ride home with them, you'd find out a different story.

I value every one's opinion but - his past ratings are based on his Bama/Auburn following.

Tell me what would/is appealing to the Mizzou,TA&M, Vandy or any other SEC school's fanbase with the present format of the PF show. Does he have a following? Yes but primarily just Bama/Auburn fans. ESPN is smart, they are tracking and watching the viewing audience and they will see that it is not widespread and attractive to the total SEC fanbase. Each fanbase is passionate about their team and wants to hear about them, not just Bama/Auburn.

How many fans of another school are gonna pay an up-charge just to get the SEC NETWORK if their team is not getting some coverage.

I understand what he is. What I don't understand is why he was picked to host the show, and why the SEC signed off on it. :thud:

Because with the recent resurgence of Bama Football with the hiring of Saban. The rivalry with Auburn is no longer so one sided. They are the most intense and hated rivals in the SEC with large fan bases. PF has used this to become the face of the SEC with his show and books. It was only natural they they would chose him if they wanted to do a call in show.

I think you must have missed 5-6 years of history prior to the SEC network.

Finebaum had a NATIONAL radio broadcast on Sirius. People from all over the country would call/listen to his show.

He hasnt been local to just Bama fans in years.

Also, NOBODY pays the upcharge for the SEC network in order to hear Finebaum (not even Bama fans). They pay to watch coverage of the games. Finebaum is just daily filler. I've seen his show just once since the SEC network began.

IMHO he is not the face of the SEC. Now if you had said face of Bama/Auburn fanbase I would agree 100 %.

That's why we need to try to get him removed and sent back to b-ham.

He is still in Birmingham. His show is an Alabama show, they have been calling him for 20 years. If you want more from other schools, then people from other schools need to call in. He only talks to the people who call him. That's the way call in shows work.

He is actually in Charlotte now, but his long time audience is Alabama based.

Watched a little of the show a few times, heard the stupid "rants" then changed channels. Never watch it any more. Neither do many others who expressed it is a waste of time, and obnoxious at times. It is worthless.

It's the "Paul Finebama Show". I don't watch it anymore. Tired of hearing Bama redneck rants and raves. I cannot understand half of them.:hi:

I have to live with it every day. Fortunately Mobile isn't as bad as some parts of Alabama. Finebaum started out as a Auburn/Alabama insult match and so the SEC network show became more of the same. The SEC will get tired of it at some point as fans from other teams lose interest and he will be replaced or reduced to the side show clown act he really is!

As I said, "Winning cures all." Finebaum has already started tooting our horn about winning the East next season. He's a Nick Saban fan, but why wouldn't he be? He's good at what he does and has parlayed that into a great spot. He's smart and when we start winning next fall he will the be the first to bring praise, much like the rest of the country .

That's the reason I quit watching the show. I thought it was a call in talk show about the SEC. But all they ever want to talk about is Bama. And when it's not Bama it's auburn. I wish they would send his butt back to Birmingham!!

Ole Lance from Jasper is sure makin Tennesseans look smart.

Is that the Gator fan that lives in Tennessee and spews his personal problems on his call ins?

In all seriousness I do like certain aspects of the show, some of the interviews and guests are interesting. The regular caller crap is just utterly sad and boring.

If you want to watch a real conference network, watch the big 10 network. Great variety of show types. Classic games, greatest players, teams etc. I love college football and watch to get my fix. The sec network should take notice and try to emulate some of their programming.

The Finebaum show might be bad but atleast he doesn't insult his audience like Colin Cowherd does. Its one thing if a caller says something stupid but Cowherd puts down his listeners all the time and people still call in

Haven't been a resident of SEC country since 1989, so my first awareness of Finebaum was the Roll Tide/War Eagle 30 For 30...since then, I got all the characterization of him as a Tennessee grad Benedict Arnold who slurped at the feet of Bear Bryant and lives to advance all things Alabama. Watching his show for the first time after the SEC Network launch, my impression is that he has some colorful regulars that he lends a considerable platform to. They manage to paint Alabama as a big goofy cartoon and he has to be perfectly aware of that. He was nonchalant about Tennessee before but is really impressed with the advances made. He seems fair and balanced all in all and sometimes I'll DVR his show and run it in the background while I get some work done. I think it's already a staple of the network and deservedly so.

That's a pretty good assement of him, but his biggest problem with UT was when they were beating Bama on a regular basis, he thought Fulmer turned them in to the NCAA to gain a competitive advantage on the playing field. PF had a real problem with this not because they were cheating but because he fully believed that Fulmer was cheating too. He really dislikes Fulmer for this and was embarrassed as a UT Alum to be associated with his type. Now that Fulmer is gone and no longer part of the UT program on a daily basis, he seems to have tried to mend a fence or two with UT and he really likes and respects Butch Jones and what he's doing a UT right now. But, he still kisses Bama and Saban's ass as a daily part of his show, and I think that's just to anger the Auburn folks and keep them stirred up all the time. Basically, Paul Finebaum is the pulse of the Bama fanbase, he listens to them and jumps on thier bandwagon. For the most part, whatever angers Bama fans angers him too. It will be very interesting to see his reaction if UT ever beats Bama again and on a regular basis.
