Pat Martin Transferring

IIRC it was touch and go whether he was going to qualify academically. In fact, I think he was one of the last if not the last to get cleared..... might have had trouble adjusting to college classes as well.

That'd be my guess for Pat's #1 reason to leave. Possibly, we'll see signs of that in the future....as to where he ends up.

Good luck, Pat Martin. Hope you find a place and become a starter.

Martin had already attended classes. Thomas isn't getting a scholly.

What are you talking about? Thomas is getting a scholarship...the only question is will it be next year or this year. There is no reason that I can think of not to give it to him this year instead of next year, if it is available now...and it appears that it is.

Then that's why he left. If you say our coaching staff was considering putting a 5'11, under 200 lb true freshman at LB, he probably thought they were trying to kill him.

That is the problem here. He was too slow for Safety when he arrived here and the coaches knew it immediately. The option would have been to move him to LB, but he would have needed to add some weight which would have made him even slower.

At his size, without speed he really doesn't have a role in our defensive scheme.

He won't be this year.

Yes, we can only take 25 though total, because of the SEC rule. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You're correct. However, we are going to need more room on the roster next year if we are taking a full class in 2012. Losing a kid like Martin is never a good thing but it does open up a little more room for next class. If Martin wasn't fitting in, probably best for both parties to part ways.

I think out involves his kid back in south carolina.

I hate that hes transfering, but he made such a big deal about committing to us, and he acted like he was gonna come in and start right away and its obvious he isn't so now hes gonna transfer... Whatever.

Go vols.

I think the 85 part is the reason we wouldn't have a full class, not the number in the class. This may open up another scholarship so another can enroll.

Nope. Not at all. I do admit I am probably too sarcasic for my own good however.

Stop beating yourself up, you often give a good counter perspectives and rarely do the lame +1. Please continue.

All it took was Rod Wilks hitting him once and he bowed out in fear.

DD said it was a mutual decision. Not sure what that means, but could mean it was a performance issue. He probably got his feelings hurt when they put him on the scout team. He was on the Scout team for a reason, I guess.

Isn't this what you just criticized me for? Wishing him well? You are a mess.

No. I just thought it was funny you gave him your blessing like you were his father or something :)
