Out coached.

I don't buy this recruit argument. Peyton was prepared to sit a year behind Colquitt, for goodness sake.

Kiffin gambled (and lost) on JC. If it was close in practice, like he said, then his story from the beginning of the season is that both QBs would get snaps.

I don't buy the WR argument either. These guys have been productive in the past. At this point, if they aren't doing the right things, it's all on the coaches.

I am behind Kiffin, but I think he has a lot to learn about being a head coach at this point. However, you win with Jimmys and Joes, and if he continues to bring in (and coach-up) star quality recruits, he will have the chance for his OJT.

However, he is at risk of throwing this season away. It's Time .... to rotate QBs if nothing else.

This is has to be top 10 most uninformed post of the season. Did the Great Pumpkin have you believing he left the cupboard well stocked at the QB position? Then you offer the most unrealistic advice of rotating QB's. It is never a good idea to rotate QB's, all that it does is prevent from one of the bad QB's from getting more reps to get somewhat better.

The sad part about it is that Coach Kiffin is full of himself while we are terrible. If Tennessee becomes decent again, imagine how he will be.

I hope he will become the most arrogant.. self centered.. narcissistic coach since urban meyer.

Who's next? I will admit, I have one leg off the train. I'm not impressed. I've never in my life seen a coach so stubborn and full of himself. I just don't get it.

I will say this, he is losing the fan base fast. REAL FAST

We are one quarterback away from a top 25 team, and one or two recruting seasons from a top 10.

For those of you who are jumping ship on our coaching staff because of the thread I"m responding to, you might want to note that the poster is wearing an Alabama shirt

I am not a coach, but tell me why with a little over 5 minutes left and you are down by 10, you would not go for it on 4th and goal?
You have just completed a 4th down conversion earlier in the drive. You need two scores, why settle for the field goal. If you go for the touchdown and get it, that pumps up your defense to stop them. Auburn was getting the ball after the score anyway. If you hold them, then you only need to get in field goal range.

Because you always want to at least cut it to a one-possession game. The filed goal was the right coaching decision.

Is there a Football-for-Dummies book we could recommend for some of those on this board?

The door is that way........Don't come back

I find it so funny that the "fans" are coming out of the woodwork ready to run our staff out of town. I have not seen our team play as hard as they are playing this year since the middle to late 90's. That was when we had the likes of Al Wilson, John Henderson, Peyton Manning, Leonard Little, Shaun Ellis, etc, etc, etc. The only difference is we do not have the likes of their talent. During that era we had NFL scouts drooling over the talent on the field and these players went high in the drafts. So to all the naysayers out there, ask yourself how many upperclassmen on the team has a shot at the NFL. Then ask yourself when was the last time you remember the Vols playing as physical and with as much heart as they are this year.

I like CLK, but he does seem a little full of himself. He is for sure stubborn, which is killing us at the QB position. Must learn to admit when wrong, he is wrong for not playing Stephens and giving him a chance. Who really knows for sure how he will do in a game. They keep saying JC does great in practice , but look at the game. With all that they say about NS, especially the quote about if we played Stephens we would want Crompton back, it wouldn't surprise me if he leaves after the season if he can play somewhere else. Give CLK time, when JC gone things could get better quickly.

This is getting ridiculous.

This thread is dumb for this reason. Did you see how many recievers we had open and were just missed or passes dropped the coach can not do a dang thing about that. The plays are there begging to be executed

Not to argue with you as you know I like you..:)

but isn't that the coaches job? To teach the players how to use the proper mechanics? Not bashing..just asking..

it is what it is and most of us understand to be patient.
the only thing that has me muffed is why he hasn't adjusted with what he has been given. the play calls are not the problem, the play calls need the players to bring them to fruition.
so why haven't we used nuke or teague more and gone to an almost 80% run/20% pass offense with option/"wildcat" and i-forms.
between hardesty, brown, oku, and poole, even if the defense knows what is coming it gives us the best chance to win. when we have the players then run your offense.
but, now it just isn't working.
play to the one strength we have- running-
and yes i know that the defense's will be keying on it- but they already are.

Exactly Lane is an epic failure , thanks for getting the point space ghost.

Hmmmm....... OK.... seems there are just a few more posters on here that agree with my point of view.. but OK.. if it makes you feel better, knock yourself out.:clapping:

Insanity is trying the same thing over and over expecting to find a different result.

When will this insanity end?

Oh, and by repeating over and over and over that CLK sucks.. and we should start Nick now is different.. how? Yup.. real sane argument there TJ.

You need to stop having this knee jerk reaction... We have a good coach, we played hard, but was beaten by a better team with better players/// evidence of the poor recruiting job done by last coaching staff

How is starting JC over and over working?

Nice try TJ... How's repeating over and over that Crompton sucks.. CLK sucks working for YOU?? But for argument's sake, it probably brings a certain stability that CLK.. in his professional judgement, feels this team needs. But oh I forgot, TennesseeJet says CLK and Crompton suck, so I must be wrong.

I have been reading posts for years now and enjoy what you guys and gals have to say. The thing about this game is if you look past the horrible reciever play in the first 3 quarters and Crompton's missing open targets, the game play calling was excellent. We ran very good plays all night, but just did not catch the ball or throw the ball effectively to win. I was very impressed with the way Monty adjusted the defense through out the game and how we attacked their defense. Crompton played better and showed improvement over other games, but the recievers just couldn't catch it. If you want to throw a great effort under the bus, you can. I prefer to look at this game as a great improvement over what we have had in the past. I am very proud of the effort of the players and coaches during this game. We will continue to improve and be back in the future.
