Our talent is mediocre...

STOKES IS NOT A CENTER !!! that is all

He is not moreso any other position either. He has the skill, ability, and makeup of a center. He just does not have the physical attributes to make him elite at the center position. Unfortunately for him, he does not have skills that make him any better at any other position. He is certainly NOT A FORWARD either.

We miss Trae Golden's offense. Barton's defense does not make up for Golden's 12-15 points per game. Lack of offensive production at the 1 and 2 guard is killing us.

Never thought this team would miss a guy who shot 29% from 3, but you might be onto something.

We are getting about 11 pts, 4 rebs and 4 assists out of the pg position. It could be better of course but that's about right for this offense out of pg. They aren't asked to do anything with the ball unless the shot clock is winding down. Otherwise, they pass it to the wing and go stand in a corner.

I would loathe being a PG in this system.

If somebody wants to argue that we don't have top-30 to 40 talent and PLENTY to be in the NCAAT, I'd love to hear their case. You could start by naming 40 teams with better players. I can't help but accept that we are, in fact, underachieving...which should be an indication that the coaching staff is not getting the job done.

Darius Thompson averages about 4 assists per 30 minutes Antonio Barton less than 2. That's not a coincidence, Thompson pushes the ball better, and passes ahead as well as just about anyone in the country.

It's time to make the change IMO.

The 2 guard? Jordan McRae offensive production is killing us?

I guess I was looking at Jordy as a 3 guard, however, I guess he is playing the 2. 3 for 24 from beyond the arc ( against NC St) is pathetic and only 30% for the season is horrible! regardless of who is playing the 1 and 2 guard positions.

We need a guard that can shoot. Otherwise, teams will continue to pack their defense in the paint to prevent Stokes and Maymon from doing their damage. Assists are great but Will be hard to come by in the offense CCM runs unless someone starts lighting it up from beyond the arc

Oh I agree, our 3 PT shooting has not been near what we expected it to be. Often it's been us jacking way too many 3s though, the difference in 3s attempted in wins and losses is no coincidence.

What happened to the Barton that was hitting over 40% from 3? I agree that Thompson is playing much better right now especially defensively and making assists, but he also can knock down the occasional 3 which is all Barton is giving us right now (an occasional 3).

I would like to see the Barton that we saw in some of the early games that could hit shots. As long as he hits, he is serviceable on D and assists. I think Thompson has much more upside though.

As Sparty has talked about, Barton is a good shooter, but has struggled recently, so has jordan. IMO this is no coincidence, as he has also said they're forcing shots out of rhythm and good perimeter shooters are looking below average.

If Thompson were to play point and we went 4 guard I think the tempo picks up and thus you'll see more attacking the basket. The three point attempts would mostly come in rhythm and you would see that % look more like it did early in the season.

I don't think DT is shooting good from 3 either. They are all better shooters than they are showing. If they get better rhythm and flow, more will fall. If they continue to be shots with a hand in the face or forced to take due to lack of movement and shot clock issues, we will continue to miss.

In hindsight, not many have.

If you are a coach or father figure and see this offense and send a pg that has sights on a career in basketball, you are doing a disservice to the young man. If you want to go get rid of the ball, score a few here and there and make sure you get back on d, we are the place for you.

I will say that I'm not sure DT or Barton are great at penetrating the bball. DT has awesome vision, but I think his footspeed causes him to be easy to keep in front of people. And Barton just likes to spot up shoot. Although the hand full of times he has taken it to the bucket good things happen.

I guess what I am trying to say is a more attack mind ed pg should be attacking despite the offense or system they are in. Our pgs are just comfortable to stay within it.(not trying to knock either one just sayin)
