(I can’t imagine Miami is in a better position than Georgia to win; is he getting paid that much more? He had use of a private jet for crying out loud!) I’m sure Georgia fans are getting rid of their Beck jerseys now regardless.

The only thing that I can think of is he figured he'd make a little more money and put up better numbers in a weaker conference to improve his draft stock because Miami doesn't have near the talent that Georgia does.

The Beck & Mateer situations aren’t remotely close, IMO. Mateer announced in Dec he was transferring to OU while Beck announced just after UGA’s season was over in Jan. Nico waited until the end of Spring practice and it was the major story of CF at the time.

I would like to say that this will never happen since the uniform rules are fairly strict with the NCAA (from what I understand NCAA even has final say on any alternate uniform), but as soon as the NBA and NFL start selling ads on jerseys, college football won't be far behind.

FWIW - I think it happens in the NBA first since the WNBA already sells space.

Yep. I had laid off the Rockets for a couple of years after Harden left. When they brought Ime in to coach i picked back up a little. Now that they've put together a decent roster and brought in Durant, I’ll be much more plugged in.

Yep. I became a Raiders fan in the late 70's as a young kid and back then, Raiders merch was practically nowhere to be found in the Chattanooga area! However Sears used to have a little store in Brainerd, outside the mall called Sears Surplus and for whatever reason, they stocked a small amount of Raiders gear. My mom would drive me over there on Saturdays just to see if anything new came in! Great memories!

Yeah back then, all the major stores like K-Mart, Hills, Sears, JC Penny, etc seemed to only stock Cowboys and Falcons merch. If you weren't a fan of either of those teams, you were kind of SOL. I know for myself, Raiders merch wasnt prevelant until all the rap artists started wearing it in the late 80's/early 90's. Then suddenly you saw it everywhere.
