Dad was a chemistry,major at UT, and Mom had a wonderful first year at Auburn. I assume they often met for dates in the early 1940s at that former sorority hub,

Yes, he also left after the whole Pruitt mess so I don’t blame him. He also had his best year as a collegiate player at UNC so smart choice for him.

I don't consider Chase a VFL either but he gave his all in the two seasons here just as Doyle did while going to 3 different schools in 3 years.

If you weren’t good enough for Tony then you weren’t doing what was asked of you, thus not a VFL.

You know, a lot of it is state pride. Being from or having moved to and identified with Tennessee. The University of Tennessee! I think that's one reason college sports are so popular.

Agreed, it’s the home state university and pride is a huge part of it.
