OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

I view a VFL as someone that started and finished their career at Tennessee. The only exception to the rule for me is Dalton Knecht being a SEC POY, would have been National POY and gotten to a Final 4 any other year, plus he was not highly recruited out of high school and had to go to a smaller school. If he had his choice I’m sure he would have been at Tennessee his entire career. You have to do something extraordinary like winning SEC POY and be one of the top vote getters for National POY for me to give someone VFL status as a one year player.
Hendon Hooker doesn't qualify?

I know I've been on a Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits "Thing" lately...but I keep getting "fed" this stuff...and it's GOLD!

Sorry for anyone offended...but I think this gentleman is a GENIUS...

Here's the Everly Brother & the Late, Great Chet Atkins performing Mark's BEAUTIFUL song off the Brothers in Arms album...ENJOY!

If I had a choice to ever be able to sing I've always wanted to be able to sing like Neil Diamond. I've been a big fan of his since the early 1960s. I always will be til the day I die.

I LOVE Neil Diamond...Tarantino using "Brother Love's Travellin Salvation Show" for "Once upon a Time in HOLLYWOOD" was masterful!

;Tonya Harding’s husband who busted Nancy Kerrigan’s knee
A slight, technical correction: ...husband who paid someone to bust her knee with a police baton.

* A bit of matrimonial trivia: In the years since, mentions of "police batons" have all but disappeared from marriage vows.

I remember hearing Chet talk about listening to Knopfler's Dire Straits album, and wondering how he could play like that. When Chet finally met Mark, he exclaimed something like, "That's it! Look at how long that thumb is!"

Humility side note: Phil Everly lived in Columbia, TN most of his adult life, and was well known and widely regarded for just being a down to earth, regular member of the community.

It's amazing that, despite his voice, he only got his start in the music business cranking out songs for other singers/groups.

There's probably a reason the "music business" is never called the talent business. Just think how much money you'd have made signing only acts that record company execs rejected!

Good memories, I had their duet album.
