Oku leaving program? (False Rumor)

I really think Oku sees the fact that this staff is in way over their head. Guess him and Bray are the only ones willing to admit it.

Ur right..all the talent and depth on this team...man, we should be killing these cupcake teams like UGA, LSU, FL, OR....give me a break dude...

Wasn't Oku pretty adamant during his recruitment that he wasn't worried about Bryce Brown coming to Knoxville, because competition doesn't bother him?

The sad part is that as close as he is to Poole, he should know the value of sticking it out. Most of these kids want everything immediately nowadays. Its not like he can point to his performance and say that its been so much better than Neal's.

So, is how is Cutcliffe doing this year as head coach of the Vols? Is Marlon Brown tearing it up for Ohio State?

Fulmer thought he would be their daddy, Kiffin wants to be their buddy. Dooley wants to establish himself as not their daddy, not their bud, but their coach. Some guys don't respond well to that. I think that is why Dooley has been passing on some higher rated recruits in favor of players that he believes will accept his coaching style.

I wish this coaching staff were leaving the program.

Instant gratification is becoming the downfall of our society. This type of mindset is why I end up spending a good portion of my workday getting kids out of a funk because they've given up for not getting concepts immediately. A majority of what the next generaton is hearing on tv, on the internet, and (sigh) at home is "Win/succeed now or forever be a failure." Even if its not directed at them, it leaves a nasty mark.

Perseverance and longsuffering are the keys to ling-term success, not kicking people to the curb for doing what they can with the paucity they've been given to work with.

Good for them.....that doesn't win games.

You don't know what your talking about sir. That is exactly what wins games. Ask Hardesty about that. He wanted an extra yard or 2 on every play last year. I'll take 11 guys that "want it" over 11 that supposedly are more talented every day. See Florida.

Yeah, thanks Grandpa. The truth is, actually watching the moves this coaching staff makes shows that there is nothing in the future that they will be doing to make this program better. Oh, and thanks for holding on to Fulmer for so long. That really helped the program get to where we are today.

Also, I take it you're a teacher. Please explain to me what "ling-term" means...Chinese?

1. Ignorant mistakes that cost the team a much-deserved W, that also will bleed in to the rest of the season. (If you think I'm wrong, yesterday was a GREAT example.)

2. We don't even try to score. Our offense is so bland we don't even attempt to throw to a TE that will be in the NFL next year. Explain that.

3. We are recruiting at levels far lower than our immediate opponents.

I could go on and on. What you so quickly refer to as "instant gratification" because you don't know any better, I could call forecasting in to the future.

Hardesty wasn't some scrub recruit. He was a top 100 player in the country.

I would feel OK if this staff had proven they could coach kids up, since we're taking the "diamond in the rough, hidden gem" approach to recruiting.

As of today, the only thing I have been shown is that they can't count to 11, numerous times. But he has good pressers though! He's Spurrier without winning.

I hope this isn't true, but if it is, this is one spot where we can handle the loss. He's clearly third string right now, and we have 2 more RBs already committed for next year, one (D. Young) who would be directly competing with Oku as the change of pace and possible slot guy. If Toney Williams returns to pre-injury form next year, Oku is seriously looking at the possibility of being #4 on the depth chart (provided neither Smith or Young take that spot first).

I still think that Oku has the talent to contribute for us, but he's gonna have to work at it. It took Montario until his senior year. Hope he sticks around and puts in the work to realize his potential.
